If the only element combating a new child from aggressive or risky behaviour is the phobia of a god, then the mothers and dads have the two carried out an appalling activity in raising that youngster, or the youngster suffers from a psychological affliction. If this persists into adulthood, then via definition that man or woman is a psychopath.

I am raised atheist..
And I'm am a good kid. I dont need a phony Idol, I can find a real person who actually DOES something..Like a teacher of mine.
You probably tell your children "If you do this, you'll go to hell, You do this you'll go to heaven. Heaven is a place with little puppy dogs and lots of games and.."
Like come on..
Parents Lie About Santa, The easter bunny, the tooth fairy, and wishing on a star.
They dont need to lie about a god too.

"Indoctrination"---read "brainwashing". I would prefer to instruct my children in the right way to live life based on compassion, sympathy, and empathy. THREATS are so not the way to go in my mind!!!!! Not a fundamentalist, but I do believe, and my kids have gone to Church/Sunday school. Never threatened them with eternal damnation, nor would I tolerate this from my church. My daughter has donated her hair to the "locks of love" program for kids with cancer, her idea, and my son is active in Cub Scouts, collecting food for the local food pantry, etc. All without threats!!!

Im not going to tell my kids that theres some being that we cant describe thats everywhere at one time that will make you burn in hell for all of eternity if you're not good. Besides, god was just a way of explaining things that science couldn't along time ago.

My environmental, humanitarian friend is a hardcore atheist. He is nice to everyone, and supports any charity event that comes to my school.
Positive reinforcement is better than negative.
Fear is a silly way to bring up a child. They can learn stronger morals if you look after them and love them.

if your parenting skills are so limited, you need to raise your children using threats, fear, and terror,...... then it simply confirms what a lot of people have suspected about religion.
"Its little more than ficticiously, manufactured, cr*p.
Thankfully, not all religious believing people are this shallow.
(misguided yes, but this shallow no.)
Telling lies and scaring the crap out of people, is an extremely bad habit,....... and the quicker you shed this behaviour the better.

The concepts of the soul and the sins are religious ones. We don't believe in any god or religion. Morality and religion are not necessary related.

Atheists have morals. Each person has a different moral code, so Mom and Dad will likely differ on many aspects of this code. Families will differ with other families and on and on. With no "universal" moral code to live by, we will have anarchy, kind of like what happened in China, Cambodia and the USSR when their atheist leaders outlawed religion. They went on to murder tens of millions of innocent citizens, often to make their atheistic, communist society better.

I love good satire! Star for you, even if others missed it.
Grotty raises an interesting point. That's how I viewed my parents from an early age and even though I'm in my 50s, I still ask my mother for advice.
