It's the sixth day of eating no more than 15 grams of carbohydrates a day and I haven't lost a single pound. I'm frustrated and depressed. I havn't cheated in the least. I've eaten nothing but strictly meat, cheese, and eggs and have been extremely careful to check the carbs in everything including my nicotine gum. What should I do? I feel like going straight to Dairy Queen and ordering the biggest thing they sell!

Give it up, either way its bad on your kidneys, your body needs carbs and all that protein you're pumping in is tough and damages your kidneys...

go do weight watchers

Atkins is a tough dieting strategy. For some, the weight just drops off - others just tend to feel lethargic for the first week or two. Sometimes the 15 grams of carbs is too much - there's a section in the Atkins diet book about resolving problems.

I realise you feel that you are losing your motivation, but stay with it - really, give it a good go for two months. At the end of this time, you'll be able to look at your body and see what you have lost.

Make up a weigh-in sheet stating your goal weight and your starting weight. Weigh yourself at approximately the same time every day and write this down. When you are eating your 5 small meals / snacks per day - remember to leave some - you eat only until you don't feel hungry, not until you clear the plate!

The first weight to come off will typically be excess water (you'll be surprised at how much you carry), then you want to make sure you lose only about 1-2 lbs per week. If you lose more than this, you are statistically more likely to give up - keep the weight loss slow and steady and easy - you want it to come off and stay off.

Once you're finally at your goal weight - you can move onto the maintenance program, where you introduce a wider range of foods (including carbs) to your diet - IT'S ALL A MATTER OF CONTROL

Good luck

Don't get depressed or frustrated. I don't believe this is the diet for you. You definitely need to read this information on the website I will provide for you.

Here is a direct link to the Article.

I would also recommend reading the review of "Fat Loss 4 Idiots" on the same website. With that diet, you can lose 9 pounds in 11 days. Also, search around the rest of the website and educate yourself. I'm sure you'll find what you want and it will work for you! I hope this helps. And keep your head up! You can do it!!!!!

If giving up carbs is not for you then do a little more research and find one that is right for YOU. If you're not comfortable with your diet you're not going to stick to it long term.

Also there is no doubt that Adkins does work but in the short term. Most people cannot stick to this diet on the long term. And once you're off the diet the weight will pile back on twice as fast you lost it.

Personally the Atkins diet is not a top choice of mine. Takeing out all carbs is ridiculous. It may work for some, but mostly its not very good for you. Today I went to a weight watchers meeting and a lady talked about how she could eat no fruit and no bread and after 2 weeks she was craving a bowl of cereal. For her to not even be allowed cereal and her having to fix her brain on the things that she can't eat is draining. I recommend doing Weight Watchers and yes i'm only 15 but i went with my mom to the meeting just because she didn't want to go by herself. During the meeting i learned that a diet is not what you cut back on but what you eat period. Weight Watchers is very informative and i learned that when people are on a diet they restrict themselves of what they can and cannot eat and with Weight Watchers you're not saying no to foods but learning portion control. When people say that Oh wait you're on a diet you shouldn't eat that...you should be able to say i can eat whatever I want to and with Weight Watchers you can definatley do that.

One major thing you should do when doing Weight Watchers is going to the meetings for sure because it may just be 30- 1 hour you learn alot and you feel good about yourself and can celebrate your weight loss.

I hope I helped =)

Cant you just be patient? Nothing is going to happen that quick..its what happens long term that counts. Don't weigh yourself and you will notice the results. And besides, the human body doesn't like changing, so it has to get used to this pattern before you will start losing weight.

atkins works you will see results in like 2 weeks.
but they completely deprive you of everything, and i hate it.
i just eat what i feel like in moderation and stay away from junk and i'm healthy.

even half an apple is more than 15g of carbs, gosh!

they make it like carbs are the enemy.... oh and if you do lose weight, your not losing weight because of eating less carbs, your losing weight cause you are eating nothing!
