In a piece published in Townhall, Martinez defines what 'violence' is, differentiating between what he calls 'sensless' violence & the sort of violence that at times is necessary for self defense or to save the lives of others. Martinez maintains that there is a 'profound moral difference' betweeen the two & lists 5specific personal experiences in Iraq to illuminate his point (mass graves, tongueless man, adrenaline fueled fedayeen saddam, human experiment picturs & bomb making materia in a mospue. (US soldures discovered the reason for their enemies almost superhuman crazyness in fighting battles was due to the use of powerful adrenaline inducing drugs. That the zombie like attackers came to fight & die.)

So? What violence is OK? One that is used to destroy or one that is used to save self or save others? And what kind of violence is US using in Iraq?

The violence used to destroy those that would harm me or others.

I'm sure you must agree that, in most every case in Iraq, the US uses violence to destroy an enemy that has already made attempts to do harm to innocents or our military.

In the cases where the US has brought about senseless violence, the US tries to hold those responsible for the senseless violence accountable for their actions.

The enemy we're fighting over there does not have any restrictions on the type of violence they use. In fact, they appear to make their actions as violent as possible and, in many cases, most senseless.

Self defense and defense of others are good reasons for violence. But I will also defend my home and what I own with a gun .
You should also note that American troops use tactics that put themselves at risk to defend the people in Iraq they believe to be innocent.

When you invade a country for your own personal gain, I don't understand why anyone is surprised when they are attacked by the people of that country. Remember, the Iraqi army was defeated by the US, and the people are forced to fight a "guerrilla" style of war.
As for the cruelty perpetrated on the Iraqis, it was on a par with that done to the Iranian people when the US overthrew their elected government in the early 50s and put the Shah on the throne.
