I cantch a lot blue runners here in Floirda, everyone tells me you can eat them but they are not good. I don't want to kill it if I will not eat it. What do they taste like? What is a good recipe to cook it?

Your question made me do a bit of searching, and all I found about the blue runner, is that they were similar to bluefish and "reportedly good to eat". Hmmmm, I do no know for sure, since I have only caught the bluefish, and never the runners.

If they are similar to bluefish, you must clean them immediately, and take off the dark meat.

Other than that, I do not know. I am sorry. I will do a bit more searching, and let you know if I find anything of interest.

Edit:
The only other information I have found is that they are supposed to be excellent for using for bait:
http://www.fishcraze.com/links/baitfishes.html

And also, here are some links on them, but both only say "reportedly good to eat" ????

Well, anyway, I hope you have a great time fishing, and catch LOTS :-)

If you want to eat truly healthy, lose body fat consistently, normalize your blood pressure, cholesterol levels, prevent cancer, and even boost your brain health and energy levels, you may have heard all over the news that the Paleo Diet has been found to be one of the best methods of achieving all of these benefits compared to any other popular "fad" diets out there. Go here https://biturl.im/aU7NK

The truth is that the Paleo Diet will never be considered a fad because it's just simply the way that humans evolved to eat over approximately 2 million years. And eating in a similar fashion to our ancestors has been proven time and time again to offer amazing health benefits, including prevention of most diseases of civilization such as cancer, heart disease, alzheimers, and other chronic conditions that are mostly caused by poor diet and lifestyle. One of the biggest misunderstandings about the Paleo Diet is that it's a meat-eating diet, or a super low-carb diet. This is not true

During a hot summer several years ago, I caught a blue runner at Point Lookout, Long Island, NY. Didn't know what the heck it was until I looked it up. Must have gotten caught in a gulf stream eddy and found its way to Long Island. Once I got home, I fried in up in brown butter and flour. Tasted good, very much like a bluefish.

Blue Fish is VERY "fishy" tasting. If you do catch some and wish to try them , "Bleed" them while they are still "kicking".(IE: Put them in a bucket of ICE right away & cut them DEEP under-neath the tail. This causes them to "bleed-out" some of that "fishy" taste.) As for "Stripers" they have a milder taste. Depending on WHERE you catch them, they will usually taste like "what they've been swimmin in"(lol). 2 suggestions : Buy some "Hyper-Striper" lures in "White" & "Chartruese" for your Striper fishing ,(they look "kinda" like a "Road-Runner" Jig). Buy some "heavy duty" top-water's for your Blue Fishing. (Nothing like watching a couple Blues chase down a skittering top-water!) Broil the Blues with lotsa butter & onion. I also put a ton of minced Cilantro or Chive on them too! And S&P and maybe some garlic. (I usually never put this much stuff on ANY type of fish! THAT'S how "fishy" these guys can get!) The Striper's can be "fried". Any type "batter". Hope this was helpful! Good fish'n!

Blue runners are edible. The are a oily fish, and have a "fishy" flavor, alot like Bluefish, or mackerel. Some folks bake them, or grill them, or stew them.

there are so many other fish that are just better tasting, that's why Blue runners are listed as edible.

Yes, and since I love bluefish and my husband doesn't, this is a wonderful alternative. It has a hint of the bluefish flavor but not quite so strong
