i have a single 400w 8" sub port the box or not?

the box i am building will be fairly small about 16 x 16 x 12 tall should i port a box this small or not

What kind of box does the manufacturer suggest? They will have calculated the best box designs for different applications.

dont the box is to small and it wont sound good it wont even make a diffrence maybe if you make the box more hollow
