Not that I have ever heard of.

You're going to have to be careful with it.

Consider NOT buying a fancy camera bag that says CANON or NIKON on it, or LOWEPRO or TAMRAC. These are just like sticking a sign on the bag saying "Expensive camera gear here!"

Believe it or not, many people use diaper bags for camera gear. Who would ever steal a diaper bag ?!

There are also backpack-type bags that you can keep your gear in so you don't have to worry about leaving the bag laying somewhere, it's just there on your back and you hardly notice it.

Go to cameraarmor.com and order the wire reinforced neck strap they sell. (Dedicated thieves have been known to slash a neck strap and grab a camera). Then keep your camera hanging securely around your neck when not in your camera bag. Never ever let your camera bag or camera out of your sight. In a restaurant put your leg through the strap on your camera bag.

If some stranger asks if you'd like for him to take a picture of you and your friends, politely decline (unless he's carrying a camera equal to yours - then ask to hold his).

Keep your camera out of sight if you have to leave it in your car. The trunk is where it belongs when not with you. Many cameras are stolen from the front seat of a car. Never leave your car unlocked for even a minute.

Use common sense. If you're out by yourself and someone seems to be following you, even from a distance, make your way to a group of people. Act as though you're totally unaware of the suspicious person.

Contact your insurance agent (home owner or renter) and ask about a separate "rider policy" to cover your camera and lenses and flash with full replacement coverage for theft and/or breakage. You'll have to show receipts for each item as well as serial numbers. Photos of all your gear should be with the information. Keep copies in a safe place.
