If we are talking about brand new .22 LR rifles with scope. Then the Ruger 10/22 or the Marlin 60.
Tasco,BSA,Bushnell scopes can be bought cheap at Walmart.

I paid $190 for my Ruger 10/22. About $40 for the BSA scope on it. You probably can get both cheaper than that.

My cousins Girlfriend bought him a Marlin 60 for about $140. He got a Tasco scope for free, from his uncle.

Now if we are talking about used semi auto 22lr rifles. You'll have to look for bargains.

My first 22lr rifle was a used Marlin 70HC with a BSA scope. I paid $50 bucks for the rifle and scope combo.

There are a few that come to mind as being good and someaht cheap. Mossberg has a gun for around $100 that is decent and with a $20-25 scope, it can be a good gun. Remington also makes a few that are in the range of $120-150, and of course the Ruger 10/22 is a good gun, but it can cost up to $170 at some places.

I would strongly urge that you spend like $175 for the Ruger 10/22 semiauto. Thre is no finer rifle in this price range. Remington and Marlin makes some semi autos, but they cannot compare the the reliability and ruggedness of the Ruger. The scope is a separate item. No rifle that I know of comes with the scope. The Ruger comes with a scope base.

You'd have to find all the local dealers and call each of them asking for the price. The cheapest you're going to find them is $210 before taxes for the most basic style. If you're lucky. Odds are that $240 is closer to proper retail now than it was in 2008. And that's just for the gun. A decent rimfire scope will be about $50 and up.

I agree with Savage. Ruger and the Marlin are the ones I would get. The Savage/Stevens .22's are made well but are a little higher in cost. There are a lot of box stores that advertise loss-leader scopes for $25 or so. They are China made but serviceable for a while.

I have a Mossberg Plinkster 702 semi auto I bought at Walmart for $96.00. I put a Simmons 22 Mag 3-9X scope on it, $50.00, and it does just fine. With the right ammo, I can keep them all on a Silver Dollar at a hundred yards. The thing doesn't misfeed either. After about 2000 rounds, only 2 or 3 misfeeds.

I just got back from the range with my $180.00 Ruger 10/22 and a brand new $20.00 Tasco scope (both from Wal Mart). 100 yards doing 3 inch groups. Just can't beat it for $200.00 worth of factory gear.

If you are looking for a cheap .22, Ruger is definitely not the way to go.
