I'm going to learn to drive, is it worth paying someone to teach you, I don't really have anyone in my family who has the time to show me, they promise me "tomorrow" but they get busy and don't, I just want to get it over with, but I'm unsure about it.

cheepest i found in my area is $40/Hr. they pick up & drop me off, from home.

Thanx

It is very important everyone learns to drive expertly. Even if you could get in a car, turn the key, back up, drive forwards, get somewhere and park....We really need better drivers on the road. Can you promise to be an excellent driver? Otherwise, ride a bike, or take a cab or bus, and just don't go so many places. I am hoping every state tightens the driving exam requirements. If we could get rid of the 15% worst drivers....that would decrease traffic congestion by 50% and increase revenue for public transit.

Yes, GO TO A DRIVING SCHOOL whatever it costs, and READ SOME DRIVING BOOKS FIRST, like books written by race car drivers. Here is the #1 tip: TRY NEVER TO USE YOUR BRAKES, ie, don't drive too fast and don't drive too slow. It seems a lot of women think "waiting" and "stopping" is somehow safer than "going". Many guys are the opposite, they think "speeding up" will get them there faster than slowing down. But not if they "speed up" to a red light.

You should be "able" to drive like an athlete plays a sport or a chef prepares meals, ie, BE GOOD AT IT.

Are you still in high school? If you are, look into Driver's Education classes. These classes can reduce your insurance premiums upon successful completion of the course, while teaching you how to drive at the same time.

Driving lessons (at $40/hour) are very expensive. The cost will add up fast.

I would advise you to talk this over with your parents and ask them to teach you how to drive. It is ultimately the parents responsibility, anyway. Explain to them that you are serious about learning how to drive. Drive for about 30 minutes a day (after you have received your permit) working on different driving techniques.

Best of luck.
