Because He left the responsibility of teaching the gospel to the Church. Everybody being able to own/afford/read a copy of the Holy Scriptures is gravy. You have to remember that when Christ came, most people were illiterate because they had no need to read. There were no billboards or newspapers or job applications or anything like that. Reading simply was not a necessity -- it was a privilege of the rich.

in my understanding fake gods arose from a core economics idea to start with, then a system of governance, then a system of religion to keep the population on the program ... if you really study all the cultures and civilizations its almost always the same process with a priesthood that keeps the inside knowledge among the initiated and ruling class and a 'set' of gods and stories that are given to the common folk to keep them on the program .. and many of the god sets are baasically the same idea like theyre all interconnected .. i think though, again, by the economic and governance 'system' which is the base model for almost all civilizations including our own .. .. so really, its not about fake gods at all as far as 'gods' just randomly being created and denying the real God .. for all intents and purposes the idea of a god being real would be happening before during or after a real God is known by denying real knowledge from a population ...
