By this question, I'm looking to find out why atheists care about "In God We Trust" being on U.S. currency? Why do they care that some people don't believe in evolution?
Just think about the question and type an original answer if you could, please.
I'm not looking for a lecture or for any statements in defense of atheism, and to clear the air before making any assumptions about my religion: I paid "Bob" my $30 and am a Reverend of the Church of the Subgenius.

The question is: Why are many atheists so passionate about religion?
You're the "smart, logical" ones, so please read and answer the question at hand... or if you choose to answer the part of the additional details you have a script for, then just don't answer please.

Because they are religious. They can't prove their point so the only option they have is to make sure others don't have a point to make either....at least that way they feel better as their own religion can't bring them anything they don't make up.
"In God we trust" does not violate anything. If it did, then anything not including my way of believing things is the preaching of another religion. It is offensive to me that someone would speak as if God didn't exist. If the government is not to promote a religion, then why am I am to tolerate the cramming of the atheist's religious beliefs down my throat?
Understand, by calling my beliefs "religious"
and by calling their beliefs "non-religious"
denies the fact that both are beliefs. Censorship and intolerance of my belief in order to promote their beliefs is unconstitutional. My threat-o-meter goes off because their lack of morality and lude behavior should not be openly be preached without being considerate of what others believe.
Those ignorant of what the framers of the constitution discussed feel like they are free to make the interpretation for themselves. I suppose these same people feel they can assign correct values to math problems they are ignorant of obtaining the right answer as well. How egotistic is that?
Since one can never saturate ignorance,
those who would conclude that "in God we trust" is a violation of church and state will not check what the writers actually discussed while the constitution was being created. Instead, they will play god and pretend to be all wise and all knowing of all things....especially that the universe revolves around them. How else would they not question if their own answers matched the well documented history?
Fact: Congress opened the first session with a prayer meeting.
Fact: The first book congress published was the Bible.
If the writers of the constitution thought that this was a violation of church and state, there would be documentation supporting this position.
Fact: There is no such documentation.

Would you care if your government put "In Buddha we Trust" on the currency?
How about in Allah or in Krishna?
And why stop with the currency? Why not on every public building?
Separation of church and state rests on the idea that what belongs in the church is invented, and it can be anything that people wish it to be. On the other hand, what a moral State needs for operating must be based on OBJECTIVE reality (the same for everyone).
Justice, for instance, is not Christian, Islamic, Buddhist or Zoroastrian -- justice can only be so if it is founded on logical reasoning. The purpose of the government is to PROTECT individual rights, such as the right to one's life, property, and liberty to pursue happiness. Can this protection be guaranteed by God? And by which god, exactly?
Trust means the confidence in someone's power to do justice. Who is better equipped to do justice, someone who declares that one is guilty because God told him, or someone who seeks the evidence for a crime and proves who is guilty and who is innocent?
What a rational, moral nation should put on the currency is precisely the opposite of "In God we Trust." It should say, "In Logical Reasoning we Trust!" The first statement is perfunctory and has no practical application. The latter statement is true to reality and is what rational people expect from other rational people.

I see that atheist fall into one of three sects. To the first sect, its just not worth thinking about. The second group are the ones who have logically determined that God does not exist. Think Christopher Hitchens or Bertrand Russell. The third category is the one this question is directed at: These atheists can't understand how God can exist and allow such misery in the world. They look for a paternal God much as a communist looks for a paternal government.

In the united states there is this thing called separation of church and state.... many atheists believe thats sound logic and are willing to fight for it, because the alternative can get really ugly... persecution and prejudice always start with 'little' things.
In god we trust wasn't always on the currency.... take a look at the history of that... the reasons are all about propaganda.
And if people are so willfully ignorant of science that they reject evolution what does that say about their ability to function in a country that has built itself on technological superiority.
And finally, god fearing Christians don't care about this world, they really only care about the next... quite frankly god belief is dangerous to human species.

i think of in lots of situations it fairly is so simply by fact atheists have arrived right here after an extraordinarily long religious journey wherein they have studied many faiths and tried on some for various years, yet on the tip of the journey right here they are confident that there only isn't something. lots of them are additionally unhappy, that's no longer what they was hoping to discover on the tip., yet they are wiser and greater smart for each and all of the soreness of their journey. It additionally makes them tremendously awareness of the place different individuals may be mired down in a definite part of religion or concept. a real, knowledgeable atheist, who has walked the walk to get there is seldom nasty to religious individuals. regardless of each little thing they have been religious human beings alongside the way themselves.

Anthony, why are you making your questions so "conditional"? We love your questions and we love answering them but lately you've been too serious about how you want them answered. It's taking the thunder away from the fun of answering them. I understand your need for serious answers but don't make them look like a college entrance exam...
Just be yourself and make us happy...no offence
To answer your question, i think the religion is used as a cover up in some of these political acts. Although the atheists want that "phrase" there they know that not everyone believes in it but it does send a message to those who do and to other people worldwide.
It's like the old say "follow what i say but don't follow what i do"

I really don't care what we have on our money...I'm gonna spend it...not look at it. (Also it's funny to me that the root of all evil has the name God on it...) I don't care if people believe or not believe in evolution, it's just when they start making a ruse about it (it's a theory...let it be taught like all other theories. Creationism is for the church or some other private place) It's when people start legalizing their morals that my threat-o-meter starts going off, because not everyone has the same morals. Congrats on being a Reverend and all that...but I don't necessarily care on what your religion is...sorry, just don't care...

I am an atheist and I am passionate about stopping religions trying to impose their god on my life, the laws of the society in which I live, the schools where my children attend, and the money that I use.

I can only tell you why I am. The reason is cause I'm nuts, not only that I'm a despicable character and the only time I shower is when it rains.
In addition I have a rotten personality.
I will tell you this much though Bob, as you call him, is actually a half-cousin of Jesus. Ponder on that a minute.

In God We Trust is a religious statement that does not express the views of atheists or others in this country. It violates the separation of church and state and is a pledge a person makes everytime they use the currency. if you do not believe in god, then how can you pledge in god we trust? The saying does not need to be on our currency.
