I am doing research for a book and I was wondering how long it took to sail between the different islands in the caribbean during the 1500-1700s?

on how big a boat? if your talking about a galleon or merchant ship of 100-200 foot, in the 1500-1600's. like Columbus ships, figure about 100-150 miles a day going across ( north to south or vica versa) the easterly Trade winds; maybe 150-165 going downwind ( east t west) and not more than 40 or 50 going easterly against the wind for that type of ship in those years...
