Chi is an explination of something that is a natural process of the body that hasnt been described or labled yet by western science, it's just that, like with everything thats a little mysic, people attach extra meaning to it that just isn't there or if it is it is very little
Many people believe and do their best to understand Chi, its only a few crazy ones that take it over the top (same thing with God, religion, politics, philosophy and martial arts)
There is definately things that science can't understand fully or explain yet, isn't it facinating that there is an ancient Yoga exercise where you shake your body and visulize you skelleton getting stronger, this exercise was specificaly made to strengthen the bones, and only recently scientists have "discovered" that gentle vibration will infact increase bone density, there are many things like this, just look at the sucess TCM has with helping women get pregnant
I think people back in the day were ALOT more in tune with their body and did their best to pass some valuable knowledge to us but somewhere along the way the information got distorted by people who I guess are scared of something or wanted to make a quick buck so just because there are a few crazy people out there doesn't mean you should ignore everything

Every body has their own defensive chi. Some people can resist attacks to thier body or their chi. Some people don't recognise chi, and some people choose to ignore others peoples chi in a battle- or choose to ignore what people are trying to do to them. Which is all okay either way. Tai chi and any excercise that strengthens mind and body, will strengthen your chi and help you defend yourself.

Your "If...Then" question fizzles out on its own.
It's like saying "If a flying spaghetti monster invades Des Moines, will Rickson tap to an armbar?"
There is no such thing as chi. But never underestimate the power of suggestion.
Oh, and by the way, there is no such thing as a flying spaghetti monster, either.

Because Ultimate Fighting is not about killing or destroying anyone. It's a sport so it is about defeating your opponent within the rules of the game.

Chi is just a word for internal energy. Its not like some Hadoken or Kamehameha wave (despite what others may claim).

Chi doesn't exist, actually, your understanding of chi doesn't exist If it did, it would've been scientifically confirmed by now.
Edit: Wow, I didn't know idiots like Sensei existed. "Master Pung Chow this and Master Ling Ding Ping that" I'm not making fun of asians, but rather mocking his stereotyping of martial arts. The reality is that he's prolly some geek, loser in his basement who thinks he knows some secret martial art. Open hand slap that accidently killed his friend? Do you actually believe that crap? Even if it did happen there obviously were other contributing factors. BTW, you're probably just threatened by MMA. You don't like it when whatever lame martial art you practise isn't used. You need to face reality, kung-fu and all these other martial arts that don't have any practical application are becoming obsolete and you're probably intimidated by that.

Actually, if you look up Wang Xiang Zhai, the Founder of Yi Chuan, he accidently killed his close friend while practicing. An open hand slap to his abdomen. He ruptured one of his internal organs.
Master Wang mourned his friend for 3 years. He did not practice or teach during that time.
For those who don't believe it can be developed, it's because you cannot find someone who can teach it to you. Thank GOD!
No one in that barbaric "sport" has the capacity to learn it. THANK GOD FOR THAT TOO!!!
