I am sorry to disappoint you but Atheists are not planning on banning religion nor will they ever be. It is the claims yes, of some of the more renown atheist to claim that it would be a good idea to ban God. Not religion as they know just as well as the rest of us that we are sentient beings and thus makes it impossible to ban an idea, belief or train of thought. Though to conform with these views would be a very religious principal. So I can guarentee you that any true anti-theist and a large majority of atheists will deny the idea of banning religion. As stated by both Christopher Hitchens and Richard Dawkins "Relegion can not be removed from society as it would create chaos" (Not a direct quote but you get the general idea.) If we were to "ban religion" as such many people would be wondering and pondering pointlessly as to what "the meaning of life" is just for one example. Atheism and anti-theism states that there is no belief due to insufficient evidence and if the evidence were found then their beliefs would change. I know that seems irrelevant but it leads me to the point that there does not necessarily have to be a meaning of life. There may well be no reason for us being here and I challenge you to prove that I am wrong. Add additional details if I missed anything or something doesn't make sense to you :)

Atheists aren't pushing for a ban on religions. They're smart enough to realize that there is no way that could ever truly happen. All Atheists want is a little respect and for church and state to be seperate, as they should be. Atheists really aren't as evil as some people seem to believe.

Atheists are not bloody trying to get religions banned, they are trying to make all religions be treated equally. The only way to ensure that is for Atheism to come first. Stop lying.

I am an atheist, but I know of no plan to ban religion in the USA. I don't think atheists in general want this, they just want to be able to go about their lives without having religion forced upon them in various ways. When religion starts to intrude and impinge on our lives, we have to fight back - religion is taking away our freedoms.

Atheists don't want to ban religions. We simply don't want immoral ones forced upon us. Those who believe that a God who drowns, Plagues, and slaughters millions (more than Hitler) is 'good' or 'loving' should be free to sell themselves and their children to him. We atheists know that none of that is moral, and our children should NOT be polluted with it.
Obviously if you NEED a God, or a book, or a list to teach YOU how to behave and NOT steal, lie, or hurt or kill people, we don't want you to be without it. Not everyone can be naturally good, like atheists are.
Like the Founding Fathers of the USA (and unlike Talibanesque fundamental Christians), Atheists fight for Religious FREEDOM.

yes, unknown time frame, the advances in systematically attacking the christian faith has exceeded my expectation of how far it would get in the roughly 30 years it has been organized.
while some will claim that it is not organized, and in terms of a central clearing house that is true, it is organized at the grass roots level, it is systematic taking small bites and not going for unwinnable fights as well as financed by those who have a vested or political gain from it.
I think it will be seen in the lives of most of these people here on A/Q. not in my lifetime though

My plan is for all religions to be able to practice their faith in peace and without having others force their beliefs on them.
I hope I do succeed.
If you look at the questions on YA, you will see far more Christian Fundamentalists trying to convert atheists (as well as other religions)- so you may want to rethink your question.

This is a misrepresentation of an argument as well as a false generalization of most atheists.
No one wants to ban religions in the US. We enjoy our freedoms as much as you do. The First Amendment protects us from having to believe in god just as it protects you from people forcing you to believe what you don't want to.
You fail.

Well, it does seem evident that they are in some crusade to ban all religious expression from the public view.
I really hope they don't succeed, the only way they would, is if good people don't stand up and understand what is at stake in all this.
We need to pray that such a thing never happens in this country.

Show me one atheist organization pushing for the banning of religion in the USA.
Then read this:

Now tell me who is the threat to the USA.
