Dogs CAN eat grass when they have upset stomaches, but dogs eat grass because they LIKE IT.
I have Newfs and they love to graze. They graze on grass daily and it is totally normal. Not every dog that eats grass has something wrong with it.
It is totally fine for your dog to do that.
I have never seen my dogs vomit after eating grass either.

Dogs (and cats for that matter) tend to eat grass because their stomach is upset in some way. There is something in the grass that soothes their stomach. If you see a dog eating grass it's a good idea to keep an eye on theme to see if they are really getting sick. You may need to take them to the vet if this happens.

I like Beans4br's answer, however, that would mean you have a cow, not a dog. Most answers you have are from an old wife's tale that the dogs stomach is upset...........people say that because AFTER they eat grass they throw it up..........they do it because they like it, no other reason, most can not hold it down for long...

Sometimes if a dog has an upset stomach it will eat grass so it can throw up.
Sometimes dogs are just weird and like eating grass. I was just outside with my three dogs today and they were all eating grass cause they just like it. Sometimes they will hack up a grass ball (looks like a hair balls, but it's grass instead.)
But as long as your dog is healthy and not hacking up it's guts it's all good.

Grass acts as an emetic. It gets rid of unwanted body fluids and the chlorophyll it contains makes their mouth feel fresh.

Usually it is because they have an upset stomach (as others have stated.) Although I'm sure people think I own two cows...because both of my dogs graze every day. They just really like eating grass and it doesn't make them sick.

They have upset stomachs and want to induce vomiting. If they continue it for more than 24 hours then take them to the vet.
