Google search the website for the National Archives. All military records are kept there, and you can downloas the forms for his record package. Takes about 6 weeks to get them back. You will need to submit a DD180 form you get from the website by mail. It costs nothing, these are public records.

His papers should have a list of his unit assignments and campaigns (if any). There are a number of veteran organizations for those units. A Google search will turn up a number of web sites for those units where you can leave messages, asking for anyone who may have served with him. Time if of the essence however. The World War Two veterans are dying at the rate of one thousand a day.
