Well, I'm left-handed, and I hold the packet in my left and use the right to fish out the crisps. It's so my shooting hand isn't greasy when mutiny takes me by surprise...Also, it's my steady hand, and I don't like eating from a moving target!

Most Europeans are taught to eat with their left hands , when they are eating with their fingers.
It comes more naturally to use the left hand if you've spent a life time doing so

Yes. I think maybe it happens that way because I tend to do intricate tasks (writing, etc.) with my right hand, but simple things I can do with my left. Doing those with the left leaves the right hand free in case I need to do something more difficult with it. I open doors mostly with my left hand too.

Can't explain it but I usually eat crisps at my desk so they just sit on the table but always to my left side. Am not at all ambidextrous.

I haven't exactly noticed which hand I eat them with, but perhaps it's because you prefer to control the bag with your right hand. I usually use my left hand to deal cards (I push them off the deck with my right thumb) and I used to shoot basketball left handed.
