the U.S., which would probably mean big business telling us what to think, gun murders everywhere, racism in our cities, too much idiotic religion, dumb and corrupt politicians, more pornography, etc. If a neighbouring country fears domination by the U.S., is it any wonder that an Arab country would fear U.S. ways?
Canadians can live with the changes that we get when we elect our left, middle or right-wing parties, even though they will make some changes we won't like, but we are deathly scared of the kind of changes that an American system would make, and we could probably be convinced to fight to prevent that.
So while the Talilban may be nasty, it probably seems more tolerable to the Arabs, including women, than the scary prospect of an American system that even scares Canadians!

WOW! I had no idea Canadians thought that way of us, how sad :( your points are very relevent however, change is difficult for anyone especially when you are used to one lifestyle, the thought of going so radically in the opposite direction would be terrifying.

There are not "gun murders" everywhere. Where I live, there has been just three total murders in over 100 years. The first one over 100 years ago was from a knife, the second one almost 100 years after that was also from a knife, and the third was from a gun, about 3 years after the second murder. It has been 27 years since the last murder.
You are right about the scary religious people and the corrupt polititians. The problem comes from the scary religious people who vote for corrupt people because they know when to use the word Jesus and God.
I still think I would rather live here more than anywhere else. We can get rid of the corruption it is just that sane people are working hard all day and don't have time to voice loudly we are against the nonsense. We should have rushed the White House and ousted the criminals as soon as they took office. Now we are counting down the days until the next election. It will not be stole again...we are more aware.

One of the most unseen negative aspects of the Iraq war is the effect it has on countries in the middle east regarding American style capitalism. Programs are introduced that actually work, but because of the death toll in Iraq the people don't want it because it stands for Western ideals. Certain American style capitalist principles can and do make a difference on the economy (using Egypt as an example) but they remain unpopular for this reason. Middle east countries are by no means Westernized.
America is not such a terrible place, if you have the common sense not to go where vices, darkness, and treachery lurks. There are hundreds of American cities where not a damn thing ever happens. There are places in the U.S. where there haven't been murders in over 100 years. America is like anywhere else, some places good, some places bad.

OK hahahaha As a Canadian... you are America's bro... Seriously, Canucks like you that live abroad trip out about how bad America is but at home you act and party just like us!

Now to Answer your ?....

Honestly, Have you been to the U.A.E.? The U.S. Does not change countries... the Western culture does... The riches, the fun and the way of buisness... The GOV'Ts of Jordan, Turkey, Pakistan, U.A.E. etc... Recognize the way to do buisness and be successful is the western way... the world was shaped post-WWII by the U.S. and other western countries... Sorry but they are changing.. just because 1% of the population hates the American(and CANADIAN) way of life does not mean the WHOLE middle east population does...

For reference... I lived in Seoul and had tons of Canadian friends I talked to about this stuff... I also live across the border from Van City When I am home and I grew up in Upstate NY (Traveling to Canda all the time)

The Arab countries are not ready for change. They still live with and practice customs and beliefs that the rest of us see as biblical, stone aged, bacwards & even barbaric. How can the US try to push democracy while they are still lopping off heads, hands, fingers and stoning people to death?

the Iranian president's denial of homosexuality in Iran should tell you a lot about how they think. How can any "intelligent modern man ever stand before the world and make such a statement? Democracy? This guy? You got to be kidding.

Until they catch up to the rest of the modern thinking world, our only entanglements with them should be limited to strictly business, nothing more. Beyond that, we should just mind our own businesss, and keep our mouths shut about how they live their lives. (unless their customs, beliefs & practices threaten us)

specific, no one desires to get replaced by foreigners, however the concern with Arab worldwide places is they deliver their human beings out to different international locations to make sure communities and push for adjustments there. The Arab international has western intervention in straightforward terms via fact some in the Arab international locations have been extraordinary out against the West for extra or less 35 years. some thing had to grant, faster or later. undergo in innovations, Canada is next to u.s. on the longest unguarded border in the international, and neither u . s . has conflicts (militia conflicts) with one yet another. ought to or no longer it fairly is the Canadians are no longer investment worldwide terrorism no longer in straightforward terms like the Arab states?

I don't think that the American system scares Canadians too much. One of our polititions is saying that 30,000 Canadian trained doctors are practicing in the USA and probably more nurses than that, and they seem to be able to survive with that way of life. I agree though, that if the Arabs want repressive religious systems to control their lives and if the women want to be owned like slave/pets by the men, then they are entitled to chose that for themselves.

I am convinced that what you are seeing in the US is the rise of fascists

These are the propaganda spinning men of Hitler who have learned how to lie even better -

If we are to have peace in our time as is now as was then

Free men of the British Empire must bring military might to bare upon the Nazi - for such barbarians and their minions will stop at nothing to control the world - they kill and accept torture now as did Hitler They walk and talk as Nazi's and they must be treated as such

If free men and women who prize such things as the right of man are to continue there must be a defeat of the American fascist who now holds the reigns of power

We must put an end to this trranny and it is the evil of the facist that demands it be done with blood

God save the Queen

Too bad. Radical Islam, based very much in the ME, declared war on Americans. Saddam paid and supported terrorists.

They'll have to get over it or learn to be civilized and live with others on this planet.
