I think "too bad" (sigh) because he could be a great guy but I'll never know. Being shy as well doesn't make room for much success. The other part, is the reality of it.....it means this guy (you) is going to be a lot of work, period. There aren't too many people that want to take someone on that's going to be a lot of work, especially when it's all in their head. Shyness can be a sign of insecurity, so then you have to deal w/ that too, right? The only way it seems to be worth the try is if it's evident the shy person displays efforts to grow and confront their shyness and all that goes with it.
Everyone's got problems. Shy people think their problems are worse, but their not. Keep in mind that problems associated w/ shyness are simply perception. Have you tried a different outlook? Ask yourself if your self talk is true or false, and stop the negative self talk. It's your choice, fake it until you make it.

Actually when the person is shy makes it much easier for the one who is not shy. You may feel as though they are not interested in the conversation, but chances are they are so shy that they may think that what they have to say is not interesting. Best thing is by asking simple questions to break the ice. Compliment them. You would really have to hold most of the converstation at first but in time, if you show real interest , they will break out of their shell.
