I think life in prison would be more of a punishment to those who dont believe in an afterlife. But If someone does believe in Heaven and Hell, if I didn't trust in God, but still knew he existed, I would be really really afraid of the death sentence.
I think that most people that murder someone should have life sentence, so many people are sent to jail falsely and do not deserve to die. I kinda have mixed opinions on this subject, but mostly I think that they should have life sentence in prison.

It's hard to say without having the situation that directly effects you because I think that might make us all feel different. However I am not sure any of us have the right to play God regardless. I think Capital punishment is killing someone for killing someone.
Then again there is the side they don't have a right to life if they killed but who am I to make that judgement? Maybe we pay taxes for their life in prison but isnt in the same token what a prision is for?? Perhaps a life spent in the doom of prision with no possibilty of ever leaving would make a good suffering.
I know prisions have many things to occupy prisioners sometimes, but just the same I don't know anyone who wants to stay or go back because of the way it's equiped.....
Maybe we need to develope a system that allows the victums familes to individually decide what they would like to see happen to the perpitrater, and allow their opinions to greatly reflect the persons outcome and sentencing??
I don't agree with many accomindations prisioners have. I think they are more so to control them for the guards and such. So they don't have as many mental break downs or crazy people from no mind occupancy.
Perhaps these things should be offered in tight moderation and earned prior not just given?? Might even be a lesson some have never had and very well need.
I don't even think they need fed any more than survial requires. How than they complain?? If they don't like their circumstances then stay the hell out of prision!!!!
Then again perhaps their should be different prision for differnet crimes?? Maybe we have to consider the innocent also that are often incarcerated??
Then again..........if we had the stiffest penality, maybe it would more detour some from murdering??

I would say for firdt degree premeditated muirder and no remorse then I am for the death penalty. If you kidnap somewone and they are killed then you deserve the death penalty. Second and third degree murder would be given lighter sentence that is 25 to life and a little less for third and 10-25 for DUI manslaughter. Life imprisonment without parole for rape as well.

The purpose of the death penalty is punishment and retribution for the victims. I believe the death penalty should be applied in all premeditated murder cases. You set out to kill some one and you punishment should be death.
For other types of murder, life in prison is warranted. Such as where someone comes home and finds his wife in bed with the mailman. The guy snaps and shoots them both. This is considered a crime of passion and the offender did not set out to kill anyone it just happened in the spur of the moment.
For things like vehicular homicide, I don't think they should get life and in most states its called Man Slaughter and they can get from 7 years to life (up to 25 years max is the norm). Its for being stupid and drunk driving or reckless driving that causes a death. They did not set out to kill anyone, they had no intent, but a death occurred as a result of their crimes.
On a side bar... I think all child molesters and rapists should be on a one strike and you are out sentence. Get one conviction and go to jail for LIFE! It a death occurs to the victim, then it should be automatically the death penalty!

sentencing in many cases is not equal or fitting of the crime. I'll give you an example. One person charged and convicted of two counts of vehicular homicide, sentenced to 3 months in each case,to run concurrent. another person charged and convicted of one count of contributing to the delinquency of a minor received 6 months. We need reforms in the justice system. the death sentence of death should only be used in cases where the guilt is 100% certain.

Even though people kill other's, it doesn't mean they deserve to die as well, because then we would become murderors too. Instead, we should just put them in prison for the rest of their lives.
Good Luck!
