In Greek mythology, Prometheus (Ancient Greek: Προμηθεύς, "forethought") is a Titan known for his wily intelligence, who stole fire from Zeus and gave it to mortals for their use. His myth has been treated by a number of ancient sources, in which Prometheus is credited with (or blamed for) playing a pivotal role in the early history of humankind.

I believe that a woman having to come up with something for dinner was the first to discover fire. Some dude wanted the invention for himself so he stole it from her and then made up some lame excuse of how the woman got him to eat some fruit from some tree that had originally been given to the woman by a snake...

Fire is like language, we've all had it from the start.

I did,but i could not get the copyright.

Fire was not invented but discovered by pre-Homo Sapiens Early Man,maybe Erectus, from forest fires, lightening stricks, lava flows.etc.

Taming it and starting from friction (sparks, etc) took more skill than discovering fire's utility.

Hearths go way back

No one invented fire. That's like asking who invented the wind.

I rather suspect fire was discovered and not invented.

Humans are 200,000 years old next monday, and hominids were around 1.2 million years ago.

Fire would have been observable when the very first ameoba evolved. over 3 billion years ago.

Fire was not invented but people had to learn how to put it to good use. One of its most important uses was extracting iron from rocks. With iron tools, people cleared forest and created large, permanent communities.
