It's Hinduism, which is believed to have roots going back to the Bronze Age (beginning about 4000B.C.E).

Other users have mentioned Judaism, but if you base it on the Hebrew calendar than Hinduism beats it in age by about 400 years.

The people who are claiming Christianity to be the oldest religion need to study their own history...

Arguable, to be sure. The oldest religion that still exists and is still practiced in truly its most original form(besides probably some "indegenous" religions, such as that of the aborigines of the Austrailian outback) is Hinduism. The Hindu religion, originating from the geographical area that is now called India incorporates hundreds of gods. All of these gods were indegenous gods that were incorporated into the Hindu religion. In ancieint times the Hindu leaders became"hooked" as it were on the "Soma" plant( a Phsychotropic drug with narcotic like effects), this led to the off-shoot religion of Jainism. Jainism was a rebellion in a way to Hinduism and focuses on self-denial and complete honesty. Jainism was super disciplined and demanding of its followers, and thus gave rise to Buddhism. The Jewish religion actually has roots all the way back to Babylon and what could be considered the first organized religion, but before one could call Judism Judism as it is today it was more of an ancient form of an indegenous religion that scholars refer to as Hebrew. It's interesting to note that the Hebrews borrowed heavily from the Babylonians(now a dead relgion) and the Egyptians(also now a dead religion). Judism further borrowed from Zorastrism, as did the later Christians. Sorry about the long answer-the oldest religion still practiced(besides maybe some indegenous) is Hinduism.

Probably it would be whatever religions still around that worship the sun, moon, and nature. Those religions existed before Judaism, which came before Christianity, which came before Islam.

i'll say islam & heres why! many religions were started by a man & named after a man, christ-christianity, buddah-buddism, judah or judea "a place"-judism, islam is the only religion not named after a man or place there is no man in all history that lived & worked for god named"islam" islam is named after the very essence which allah has create everything to "submit". now i know you will say that islam started with muhammad! "wrong", he only brought islam to arabia mecca & medina then spread it across the world. remember that muhammad was trying to get people to return to the way of abraham!well what was abrahams religion? the holy quran says that abraham was a muslim & he was born & died way before muhammad. matter of fact the quran says adam was a muslim, see islam existed since the beginning of time & is the fastiest growing religion on earth today! maybe thats why there is an attack on the east so much & false accusations about islam, out of fear! we're not terrorist we're just sick of being terrorised. allah-u akbar.

the oldest is not always the best.....The oldest needs repairs and changes all the time......
The changes have been for the best....Jesus talked about tradition not being the best to follow.....
If people had stayed with tradition in his day there would have been no faith in Jesus
