I had a boyfriend five years ago.. hes always been "the one that got away". Most people have one- the one that they never really stop thinking about that deeply impacted their life. We went through alot in our relationship and he has always been very hard to get over.

I NEVER thought id find anyone to make me happy after him- and then a year ago i met an awesome man. He is my everything and i love him to death. He makes me happier then ive ever been in my life and i cant wait until i marry him.

Problem is.. that ex is always in the back of my mind. i would NEVER leave my current for him or put myself in a bad position of being around him.. but he still crosses my mind.

Im ashamed to say last night it got worse.. i saw him out.. and text him that i didnt think id ever be truly completely over him. I am ashamed to even tell random strangers this b/c i know how messed up it is. I LOVE MY BOYFRIEND!

Anyone ever been in this situation? How do i stop? Am i a horrible person?

I don't think it's such a bad thing. I can understand but as long as you're not jeopardizing your relationship with your current boyfriend and you wouldn't saunter off or cheat then it's not so bad.

To be honest, you seem to be punishing yourself for something you can't help and that isn't healthy. You should try your best to block him out and focus on what you have instead of what you could of had. I think you'll find that he doesn't have your heart but he has your mind and that's one of the hardest things to overcome.

Despite my "advice", you do need to do what makes you happy. There's no point living your one chance at life hiding behind things. Personally... if I was in your position, I'd ask my ex if there was a chance we could ever get back together. If he said no? I'd do my best to put him behind me forever and if he said yes? Then... well, that presents a lot more problems.

u are definitley not a horrible person. i went thru the same thing. it was about four years ago and now i just put him in the back of my head until l met someone knew. you just have to learn to get over him and move on. and its actually a good thing that you told him about your ex because that shows how much you trust him and how open you are with him. everything is gonna be alright. just try your best to let the ex go. i did and its about time too!

Your ex is always on your mind, yet you text him? No wonder he's always on your mind! Bad! Bad!, for the man that's everything to you! Sounds like twinges of jealousy that your ex will find who he's looking for also! Are you trying to talk yourself into loving your now boyfriend, or, do you really? To many questions instead of answers. sorry!

You obviously had very strong feelings for this man. I don't know all the details, but he probably isn't the one for you. If your current boyfriend is so wonderful, then stay with him. You probably shouldn't be in contact with your ex for a long time. You might want to talk to your current boyfriend about this.

Good luck!
