I don't know. About equal to saying "God is alive and Elvis is dead", when Elvis, the very pinnacle of Evolution and that which all humans aspire to, will NEVER die! Some say that Elvis ascended into the Heavens (aboard a flying saucer no doubt--source Weekly World News) and will return soon to redeem his fans. At any rate, another Superstar named Jesus Christ claimed he was coming back "soon" and that was almost 2000 years ago. If that's soon, I'm a tomato! I'll place my bets on Elvis, the true "King".

Elvis is dead, and there are no gods.
The real problem with society is too much reliance on the supernatural. We will never mature as a society-- or a race-- until we abandon all this mythology. It gets in the way of progress. We don't need a fictional being to tell us how to behave. That's what laws are for.

I'd have to say ol' Irv was leaning on a generalization and pointing to a society as a whole for what some individuals within it say. It's kind of like someone blaming You for something I said ;-) Doesn't fit, does it?
