If he has the ability to kick, and you dont, this will give him the reach advantage even though you are taller... I hope at least you have good kick defense, but if he kicks alot you should be able to make him miss and land the one big cross you are looking for.... If you are certain his stamina is poor, try to press the pace, but don't take any risks, till later in the fight.... Just try to relax..... good luck man.. I am jealous

Queen there has some good advice for you and along with that I would practice sliding forward and throwing right hand leads when someone kicks at you (if you fight out of the left side). This is a typical counter for someone kicking (especially with the rear leg) and by drilling and practicing on this you will find it easier to do. Many beginner fighters hesitate doing this and then by the time they recognize it or decide to go it is too late and the opportunity is gone. Sharpen you skill at this and use that power punch and if you connect I bet he will hesitate on kicking at all and if he can't take your punch you will also be rocking him. Good luck.

Well since he has bad stamina, tease him a bit with the sparring, be out of his range a lot. Make him get too overconfident and try to pursue you. Be tactful and don't let him get a good hold on you and take you down. Let him wear himself out. Once he starts slowing down and getting tired that's when you move in swift and with full force. Use those powerpunches then take him to the ground and keep him there. Get him pinned in a way where he can't do much with his arms and legs, especially his arms since you said he has good upper body strength. Keep punching away. Always preserve your energy, it's your greatest advantage over your opponent. Whenever you get an opportunity to get him cornered or down, try to keep them in that spot for as long as you can to keep that advantage in your favor.

Good luck with the fight!

First of off Congrats on your first MMA fight. Second, Sounds like a good chance to take him down, i don't know about your submission strenght, but suggest you ground and pound him, pass his guard mount him, and throw you deadly bombs.
