I heard it can take up to a couple of weeks before the odor goes away but how long is too long? When should I be concerned that there is still an infection? I'm just wondering if I should be on another antibiotic or something. I keep washing my mouth out with salt water/mouth wash and within less than 5 minutes the odor returns. When should I go see a doctor? How many weeks should I give it, after the surgery??
Thanks a lot!

Its been 1 week since I had my wisdom teeth removed and I developed two dry sockets (even though I followed all the "rules") I have the same nasty smell! It could be due to infection, food, or if you have a dry socket you can't avoid that smell. You can go get a syringe from the store or from your dentist put in salt and water and squirt wherever you think food could be lodged. If you are feeling pain you might have a dry socket, either way go to your dentist so they can fix you up :D (still in a lot of pain :( )

i comprehend it form of feels horrendous and prefer itll in no way end, yet that discomfort WILL truthfully bypass away. the enamel discomfort could be worse than hard artwork discomfort, so its no small deal. Ive had 4 cracked and decaying molars for 3 years now and on the days the nerve makes a decision to be uncovered, I cant do something- the discomfort is a few distance too intense. i eventually chanced on a less expensive health facility (being a pupil doesnt yield great coverage), it fairly is what you should attempt first. It sounds however, that it incredibly is severe sufficient that the discomfort would desire to reason a spike in bp and stress that would desire to bring about a panic attack (doesnt take place that commonly, yet you dont desire to take that possibility), meaning you should pass over to the ER, the place they'll take your pulse, probable observe that its spiked, see the the enamel harm/wounds, and deliver you living house with another discomfort killer once you tell them tramadol wasnt for you. have faith me, I however my jaw grew to become into going to fall off even however I knew logically as a scientific pupil that that of direction wasnt actual. you're ordinary, yet you do want something for the discomfort if its effecting your existence and psychological state to this volume. If coverage is a difficulty, attempt to locate a lowcost or unfastened health facility or scientific institution with an ER. Youll wait continuously, yet a minimum of youll settle for some alleviation. additionally, do not floss many times over an uncovered or these days operated-on area of the gums, or it could open up and be liable to an infection. solid success!

The same thing happened to a friend of mine after she had wisdom teeth pulled. Turns out there was food lodged in the holes in her mouth. The dentist gave her a special cleaning tool to shoot water into the holes after brushing her teeth to make sure everything came out and it wouldn't happen again.

Cheer up! It might not be an infection after all!

Warm salt water rinses are for just that... to keep the areas rinsed/cleaned until you are able to brush without it being uncomfortable...

I would definitely call the OS and state your concerns... and have the extraction sites evaluated...

Best of luck!
