Ok, I am a Follower of Jesus Christ and I have been pondering this question because my guy friend asked me.
Where in the Bible (verses please) does it state that sleeping with a member of the opposite sex is wrong?? NOT having actually sex just sleeping next to each other (with clothes on)?

Also do consider it morally wrong to sleep next to someone due to religious beliefs?

Probably not a particular scripture that states it in those words, but there are principles of modest being violated there. Also, how about the responsibility to refrain from conduct that would stumble others (like the one involved, leading them into temptation, or those hearing of the conduct)? What about conduct that's "free of reproach"? Could this conduct draw bad attention, suspicion, giving people something of substance to gossip about? How about pursuing conduct and actions that are wholesome, upbuilding, and the like, that would fortify, not put to the test, others' faith?
Just a little food for thought...

I wouldn't do it myself it that's what you're asking. I admit, it's not a thing where you can crack open a Bible and see a verse that says "Do not sleep in the same bed even if you're not having sex..." If we did that with every commandment, the Bible would be twice as thick, and it'd get very tedious to read. Just try reading Deuteronomy and you'll see what I'm talking about...

With sex I found, is a very slippery slope. You start tilting close to the edge, and chances are you'll loose your footing and fall all the way down. It's best you just stay a safe distance from the edge and go down carefully.

It is not wrong to sleep with someone, if that is what you are going to do. Just sleep. Nothing else.
The puritans did let opposite sex sleepovers take place. Only the parents of the girl made sure that the boy was placed in a large flour sack, laid in a bed, and their daughter sewed him into the sack and onto the bed so they could not have sex. Sleep together, but no sex. So take their example. Get your bf in the sack and have a great time.

Actually, here is a fun fact: In the colonial days when a boy would travel most of the day to visit a girl, the trip was so long that the puritans would let the couple sleep in the same bed for the evening.

You have many excellent answers. I just want to add to Daniel's answer so it is correct. Yes, the Puritans did allow a man and the woman he loved to be in the same bed. But it was a special bed with a small "wall" in the middle. The wall prevented any touching of the body, etc.

Sounds like your guy friend is trying to get you into his bed, on the pretext of "oh we won't have sex, it doesn't say it's a sin to just SLEEP in the same bed together."

Do what you know is right for you, not what he thinks is right for him. Whatever that is.

what violation is there in showing love to another person?
this is not "tempation." this is part of life, not the devil, nor demons. do what makes you happy and keep your ethics intact when it is necessary.

You are supposed to avoid temptation. It is in the Lord's Prayer. Your friend is just trying to seduce you.
