Sometimes we're just trying to be helpful. Remeber that Answers is not like texting. There's no need for mass abreviations and they have thoughtfully provided a Spelling Checker. Also, even a poor typist can take the time to hitthe right keys.
Before you say "lighten up" to me, please consider that readers may appreciate it when someone has taken the trouble to get their Question written properly. It's also more likely to receive sensible Answers.

I can't explain it, but i do hate it when people do that. Everyone has a pet hate, bad spelling and grammar are mine. I wouldn't winge at someone on here for it though because this is informal, its more at work it bothers me. For example, when someone puts together a letter to send to one of our clients and the spelling's terrible and the grammar is non existent! It really winds me up! How difficult is it to use the spell checker!

It depends. Normally I wouldn't do that, basically because I can't be bothered as there are so many people nowadays whose grammar and spelling are none to good.
However, I do get irritated by people who talk about becoming journalists and who can't spell or who are grammatically incorrect.
After all, the art of the journalist is the ability to write or speak effectively to attract the interest of readers and listeners

Correcting spelling is legitimate, but some cannot differentiate between poor spelling and typing errors, and THAT p's me off! As for grammar, we shouldn't be surprised about the poor quality, after all English is not properly taught any more, is it?

If people want to advertise their total illiteracy to the world, fair enough. I for one can not be bothered to read incomprehensible, incorrectly spelt tripe. Abbreviations used in text messaging are not of interest either. Oh my God!
