Yes. True. Any other answer such as "The Bible is true because the Bible says so" (Sola Scriptura to the absurd extreme) is circular reasoning and a complete logical fallacy.
No "Church" - no "Bible" - NOT the other way around. There was a well-structured, Spirit-filled, Holy Church (the Body of Christ) doing quite well for almost 400 years with no official canon of Scripture.

Yes, true.
Whenever Jesus refers to the scriptures he is talking about the Old Testament. There was no New Testament. Most of the New Testament books weren't even written many many years later. Even once written, they were not all seen as scripture nor the word of God.
Jesus came, died and rose from the dead. The earliest gospel account is Mark's and thought to be written about 60- 80 years after Christ. Then once written, it wasn't immediately available and pronounced sacred. It took time. So, the early Church functioned for many centuries without a defined book.
It was the Catholic Church that preserved the word of God. It was many years and many councils that determined the books of the Bible. Many churches were using different books. There came a time when it was necessary to define which books were inspired. This was done through many meetings, much prayer and research.
Thanks to Catholicism we have the Bible. Martin Luther removed 7 books that did not agree with his thinking. But the Catholic Church still uses the same Bible that was declared the inspired Word of God over 1600 years ago.

True.
That verse from 2 Timothy states "All Scripture", not "ONLY scripture". Big difference. In fact, "scripture alone" as the basis for faith and doctrine is not found anywhere in the Bible.
It's funny that when the Bible was translated into the King's English, all the "solas" suddenly came forth as if centuries of Church scholars had somehow missed the mark. Always did strike me as a tad arrogant.

I expect to see my Catholic brothers and sisters in Heaven, but one thing is certain--there is only One Creator, Redeemer, Master, Teacher, Forgiver of sins, and Lord. That One is Jesus, the Lamb of God.
"And there is salvation in no one else; for there is no other name under heaven that has been given among men by which we must be saved."

Scriptures and the 'Bible' currently in USA are not the same. Please do not use them interchangeably at present. Scripture is given by inspiration of God... (2 Tim.3:16-17). That difference is one of the things dividing Christianity presently; especially in USA.

Before there was a Catholic Church, there was the Bible. Before the Bible, there was God. Neither God nor His Word, the Bible exist because of the Catholic Church.
Indeed, some could rightfully claim they exist in spite of the Catholic Church.

"ignorance of scripture is ignorance of christ" st. jerome
scripture comes from the catholic church, was preserved and protected by the catholic church.
i think it is safe to say that "ignorance of church/bible history is ignorance of christ". a church wothout the eucharist, papacy and many other catholic doctrines is a church deceived. our seperated brothers and sisters in christ earnestly seek him and i commend them for that but they will find the fullness of his truth only in his chuch, the holy roman catholic and apostolic church. please know that i am aware that salvation is not confined to catholicism but please also know that the fullness of truth is confined to catholicism. my humble opinion, no offence to anyone and god bless.

Any book that Jesus quoted from can be taken as being inspired by God; likewise, any book he ignored while here on earth can be thought of as written by men. Jesus quoted from all 39 of the old testament books, and not once from Sirach or any of the other apocryphal books.
Then there's the historical record. All 66 books of the bible agree with the historical record, as well as archeology. Similarly, the apocrypha are fraught with errors.
The canonical books all agree with each other in all aspects, whether it be doctrine, prophecy, soteriology, symbolism, typology, etc., and again, the apocryphal books disagree on many points.

Are you saying the Catholic Church has greater authority than Jesus? I thought Jesus founded the church and that He is "the word made flesh". If He is the Word, how is it we are dependent upon Catholicism?
Jesus rebuked the Pharisees and Sadducees, saying, “You nullify the word of God for the sake of your tradition.” And quoting Isaiah, He declared, “These people honor me with their lips, but their hearts are far from me. They worship me in vain; their teachings are but rules taught by men.”

Because the claim about the catholics is pure propaganda from the Catholic Church. Ever hear of the Dead Sea Scrolls among others?
People have called me arrogant, and I have nothing on The Vatican.
