and they cannot function without seeing/connecting with them at least once in two days?

What makes humans co-dependent in this way?

Sorry, what I meant by "cannot function" is to work at lower productivity, feeling slightly sad, drained, distracted..

The infatuation of the first few months of love. The person is experiencing what is known as "connecting" with their partner. Soon enough, once both realize their place and hold enough trust and love, they will be able to function for months on end without seeing each other.

According to this guy:

Your childhood.

You might want to consider if what you're talking about is actually co-dependency or not. If you just goo-goo gaa-gaa in love with someone you just met you're just overwhelmed with new emotions- too many people get addicted to that feeling and jump from one relationship to another after it fades (a year or two).

If you've been with someone for a long period of time then they have become part of your life.

The bottom line is what you actually mean by "cannot function." I think in co-dependency you are having very few things to live for yourself, you're getting all those from the other person. If you have your own hobbies, dreams, goals, things to do, and so on, that are independent of the other person, then you're in a much better place... Oh, I think there's supposed to be something in there about LOVING YOURSELF too. Not always the easiest thing to do.

It's called obsession and puppy love and it fades away, then real love can start.
