Definitely after work, if possible.

Your body has more energy it can burn after 5:00, since you probably had two meals during the day. In the mornings, exercise is still good, but your system is closer to empty. A little les beneficial.

I own an elliptical machine. I use it after 10 p.m., just before I go to bed. Keeps the metabolism going into the sleep hours.

I would try Yoga , you could do some before going to work and again before going to bed, Salute to the sun takes about 8 minutes each morning sets you up for the day, join a class after a few weeks you will be great, its not all about meditation it teaches people to relax and correct breathing, it exercises gently the whole body, yoga teaches you look after the whole person and not just bits.

I prefer to exercise early in the morning as later in the evening I tend to be more tired and it is easier to find a good excuse to avoid exercising, so if you have the chance do it before going to work!

Either are fine. The only times that are unwise for exercise are when you have a full stomach and immediately before bed, here the stimulant effect may stop you sleeping.

If you excercise first thing in the morning, you are more likely to keep it up. If you wait until later in the day, there is a massive temptation to just leave it!!

the best time to exercise is in the morning to get your metabolism going and it will stay in high gear all day then.
