I think you just said, God the Father.
If you were a loving father, would let your 14 year old daughter go to an unsupervised party because she has to go to see a boy she likes?
Would you let your 4 year old son play in a busy road?
No, you would set boundries and sanctions up for your children if you loved them.
They might protest, and think your mean, cruel and tyranical. However, you would be doing so out of love.
Now apply that to God the Father.

Where did you get your information from that He is a tyrant. You should read the Bible and find out what the true God is really like.

Jeremiah 9:24 but let him who boasts boast of this, that he understands and knows Me, that I am the LORD who exercises lovingkindness, justice and righteousness on earth; for I delight in these things," declares the LORD.

I agree...except...I wouldn't send them to eternal damnation and torture as a punishment either. That fourteen year old girl is "guilty" of liking a boy...not that terrible of an offense in my opinion...and that four year old plays by the road because it is in his nature NOT to understand it is dangerous yet. Not to say either of these behaviors is good; they're obviously not. But should I send my fourteen year old daughtr to place to be burned and tortured forever because she had impure thoughts? Should I send that little four year straight to hell because he disobeyed his mother and father?

I think this is what the questioner means by "tyrant".

And to answer the original question, I DO believe in God, and no, I don't think he is a tyrant. We must remember that MEN wrote the Bible. It did not fall from the sky, penned by the hand of the Almighty Himself. Men wrote it, and THEY are the ones who made God out to be a tyrant I believe, because it fit the mold of their male-dominated, slave owning, violent era.

EDITED TO ADD:

The passage you quoted in your post is a nice and beautiful one to be sure. But if one reads the Bible they also read of God killing infants, asking for human sacrifice to test faith, making bets with the devil and using humans as a wager, the genocide of entire cities and civilizations, etc. I think the answer is in people's hearts moreso than in a book written by men.

Indeed, let us compare
the Father to our Father:

Indeed, law God on high is awful lawful... the Father
But higher God grace, is merciful to all... our Father

Grace unto you, and peace,
from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.

Grace: I will never leave you nor forsake you: Dt 31; Heb 13
Law: I will forget you and I will forsake you: Jer 23; Mt 27

The GRACE of our Lord Jesus Christ with you all. Amen.

Maybe to scold those in the bible who do wrong he tries and tries and who wouldn't feel angry at being forced to be a tyrant and sad that was was what the Old testament world might have needed to set the stage for the new testament. If you believe in it that is.I don't

how do you equate the Creator with a tyrant ? Man is the ones following the tyrants. Thomas Jefferson said, "Resistance to tyranny is obediance to God"
