Green Tea supposed to be healthy for us. I read an article somewhere and they said each cup of green tea contains about 35mg of caffeine. Also caffeine can only raise the BP temporarily..... I am currently taking 25mg of atenolol for my high blood pressure. I measured my BP right after I drank a cup of green tea this morning, it was 124/72. I freak out, because the top number is so high. It should be around 110 if I am on medicine.

I want to know if I am drinking too much green tea that cause this... I drink about 5-10 cups of green tea a day. is it too much? If caffeine can temporarily raise BP, how long is it gonna go away? 15 minutes? 30 minutes? 1 hour?

30 minutes later. I measure my BP again. It is 107/62. If I drink another cup of drink tea, it will go back up again. My BP go up and down all day long, and I really want to find out if it is the green tea, or i have other health problems.

Just drink less green tea and more water. All i drink is Green tea and water, and i'm healthy... idk if this helped at all, but if you drink water, it will help clean your system out faster of the caffeine... oh and take a goood multivitamin

all I can tell you is that from my husbands personal experience..he thought he was doing something healthy as well..so green tea is all he drank for about two weeks straight....he ended up in the ER room at 2am with kidney stones...Doctors ask what he was eating..he made his list and the doctors said..NO GREEN TEA!!!!!!

It was the only thing the doctor said that caused it.
