The advantage of registering as a charity is that it will allow you to approach corporate sponsors and they can get a tax deduction (for shipping expenses, advertising and such).

Once you have registered, the hardest part of your job will be getting the word out.

You can solicit advertisers (radio and newspaper), email, text and other campaigns.

Once you have the word out, you will need to categorize and inventory all materials received. For those that wish to donate cash, you can give them a tax receipt.

Then, find a place that will ship them and distribute them to your recipients.
