Long story short. I bought a car to get me until graduation. Its a piece of junk, but thats another story, I procrastnated and just got a ticket for expired registration and inspection. Got the inspection done, so I got that wiped off. They said I could get my regisration wiped off once I got that.

Here be the problem. When I bought it I did not go get the title put in my name. Foolish I know, but I didnt have the money to pay the taxes, so I waited for my school loan to come in. Finally got it, and I'm ready to get it register and title switched to my name. Whoops, I lost the title and the register paper. I still have the receipt, and the title transfer papers, but they said I would need to get the title put in my name before I could regsiter. So while I'm in the midst of doing that, can I be arrested for expired registration? I have insurance in my name, and the receipt of purchased, but I am afraid I could be arrested. Campus cops have already threatened, but can they or local PD?

Arrest you? No.
But they can impound your car......Plus towing and storage fees.

I doubt you would be arrested, however, because your tabs/registration is invalid, it invalidates your insurance and your insurance company will not pay if you wreck the car. As for the title transfer, you are going to have to go back to the owner you purchased the car from, and request that they apply for a duplicate title. If they have not filed a Seller's Report of Sale, it should go off okay, however, if the previous owner filed the report(which they should at all times!), then you are going to have to ask that they also state that a new seller's report will be filed. You will pay fines for late transfer, sales/use tax will be due on the purchase price. If you continue to drive, you can be pulled over, and it is possible that you could be arrested for failing to transfer ownership, if more than 45days have passed. With overcrowding in jails, you likely would be booked and released, with a court time to appear. If the campus cops have already threatened you, I'd say you better comply and get things fixed, they do have the option of towing your car because of expired tags. If that happens, it's very costly, tow fees plus daily fees in the impound yard, most exceed 30dollars a day.

HI
Well first things first get that car registered in your name which you can do in a title place or the county tax office just bring all your papers and proof of insurance to changed the title of your car. As can you be arrested well if you dont get the car registerd yes but you have to be caught 2 times with the same violation. I hope this helps you

Yep ... If they can fine a truck driver friend of mine $800.00 for a dirty under carriage on a truck , Texas can do anything....

Physically cuff you and carry you to jail , I doubt it , but
A ticket is considered an arrest .....
