Uh, yeah? I guess I wouldn't wanna hang out with you, though if you think like that. You only have one life to l live and that's this one, unless you believe in reincarnation. But you only live this life once and this is all you got. Live it to the fullest and make the best of what you got in the short time you have here on earth. My friend just died at 27 and I see all he's left behind. It makes me wanna take care of my family and love everyone while I'm here. To me it matters.

Yes, it does. I know a lot of people argue that nothing matters because nothing lasts - well,

(a) so what? we are all here now, existing now, affected by the now - and I guaranty you will agree with me that it matters if somebody drops a brick on you now! Sometimes life can be unbearably painful - but it can also be incredibly beautiful and joyful - and in order to experience the love and joy, we have to risk the chance of losing it and thus experiencing pain. You can numb yourself and deny life to try and escape all risk of pain, but by avoiding all risk you are missing the chance for joy and love, and therefore missing the whole point of life - life is a leap of faith, the ultimate risk, a dance of piercing joy; and

(b) I don't think that the statement that "nothing lasts" is true. I think that because we humans only live in 3 dimensions, we don't really understand time and tend to think the past is gone - well, the past isn't past - it is like a wave rushing into the future - and I also think that everything that ever happened still exists - we just can't reach the place where it is.

So I don't think nothing matters. Just the opposite. I think everything matters. Kind of an overwhelming concept, isn't it?

And if everything matters, which way do you want to tilt the universe with your life? Because maybe you are the wings of the butterfly clapping, creating a hurricane on the other side of the world. Because maybe you are the grain of sand that tips the scales. Yes, YOU. Or maybe you are the bird that does the triple somersault with a belly flop into the birdbath and makes everyone laugh - and that's tilting the universe too. Every day you choose. That's what free will is all about.

So hopefully you choose to live, so hopefully you choose to strive for the light. So keep it simple - just concentrate on the now, try and rejoice in each day, to stretch yourself to experience something new every day, to learn and grow as best you can manage, and along the way strive for the most difficult and worthwhile thing there is - to do the right thing. Strive to be kind and courteous to your fellow travelers, strive for empathy and compassion, to love one another and to do unto others as you would have them do unto you - strive not to judge, and above all smile, laugh and remember not to take anything to seriously, including yourself, including this email (be like Dr. Who, be serious about what you do but not serious about the way you do it).

There is a zen parable - "A man traveling across a field encountered a tiger. He fled, the tiger after him. Coming to a precipice, he caught hold of the root of a wild vine and swung himself down over the edge. The tiger sniffed at him from above. Trembling, the man looked down to where, far below, another tiger was waiting to eat him. Only the vine sustained him. Two mice, one white and one black, little by little started to gnaw away the vine. The man saw a luscious strawberry near him. Grasping the vine with one hand, he plucked the strawberry with the other. How sweet it tasted!"

Sometimes there are going to be tigers (and maybe even mice!) - don't let them keep you from enjoying the strawberries!

I'm sending you a hug with this message. God bless you and may a friend and a smile, laugh, love and the light be with you, behind and before you today and every day.

Honestly yes and no!

It is making things matter that don't matter which makes us, it is all that pushes us on. If the world were to end tomorrow, does it matter? No! So humanity would be at an end children wouldn't grow up and the trees would die. But after that what?

Nothing...

If anybody disappeared tomoz, ANYBODY! Life would go on because it really doesn't matter. Become a doctor or soldier, investment banker, or cricketer, doesn't matter. Find a homeless person and give him all the spare cash you have in a month, I mean feed yourself pay the bills then give it away.

You'd go on, you'd survive and get back on your feet, but you wouldn't because it matters, money is important you never know when, you'll need it. Its what keeps us going, but its knowing when to stop and realize were living a lie that's tuff. I could go on all day...Great question.

Everything on this Earth matters for some reason, often times not known to us. God has a reason for everything and a time for everything. So yes, everything matters!

In the end, only one thing really matters: How you finally deal with the fact of Jesus Christ.

No.

No matter how it ends, eventually, the universe WILL end. And when that happens, neither Hitler nor Mother Theresa will mean the slightest difference. All the rights and wrongs will be totally void.

However, we are here. Might as well enjoy it while it lasts.

Yes, it does because life still goes and even days we don't want to be through they pass on.
