It is for a persuasive essay and some stats are over 1million illegal immigrants come over border every year, American tax dollars go towards immigrants welfare, immigrants aer taking away American jobs, American tax dollars go towards educating illegal aliens.. and so on. What would be a good opening few sentances?

A good way to start would be to say "Tightening our border with Mexico sends a message of distrust and disrespect of one nation over all nations. If this is the legacy that our generation of Americans wants to give the world, then only focus on the Southern border. Let's not forget that the September 11th terrorists entered into our great nation through the US-Canadian border."

Id say a good begining would be a vague look at how our country started off as being a melting pot, maybe quote the statue of liberty and say how things have changed and things must change in order to save our way of life...
Our Borders, our language and our culture.
"Give me your tired, your poor,
Your huddled masses yearning to breathe free,
The wretched refuse of your teeming shore.
Send these, the homeless, tempest-tost to me,
I lift my lamp beside the golden door!"
Start there and then work towards the specific problems... end with your thesis statement and then individual paragraphs.... ;)
