Fundamentalists fear and despise beliefs that differ from their own. That is the motive that drives many fundamentalists to speak ill of the Catholic Church. From my experience with fundamentalists very few of them know what the Catholic Church teaches. Yet they will tell Catholic Christians what they think Catholics believe; usually they are completely wrong when they try to describe Catholic beliefs. I think that is probably because their ideas about Catholic faith are picked up in conversation or from anti-catholic literature - like Jack Chick comics etc.

I feel so sorry for you! Someone has misled you into believing that All Catholics and All Muslims are bad. That is a lonely world you must live in!
Do yourself a favor and read the Catechism of the Catholic Church and find out for YOURSELF what we really believe. I used to be like you until I studied Islam and Catholicism. I learned that while I can never accept Muhammad as a Prophet, that there are many good Muslim people.
I also learned that I could accept the Catholic Church as the Church that Jesus started and I became Catholic.
Do not believe everything you are told. Do your own research.

Don't like your term but I assume you mean a Christian that believes Scripture.The reason is not fear,but love for anyone joining a false religion.False religions do not encourage one to search for truth or read the Bible.Catholicism has most of its doctrines running contrary to Scripture,but has a billion adherents nonetheless.Surely there are many intellectuals in that camp.But spiritual blindness is not limited to the dim only.
