Hey there, so I think I am begining to get OCD, I mean, I have recently gotten into the habit it's like everytime I go to the bathroom, finish eating, get home from school, things like that I HAVE to wash my hands, and sometimes I'll just wash my hands because, I spend at least 5 minutes washing my hands everyday. And I use purell like a maniac. And if I'm at my locker for school, the dial on the lock has ot be at zero when I leave, or it bugs me the whole class if I don't know if it is, I also have gotten into the habit of making sure I do not step on cracks when I am walking in the hallway/outside. Does this sound like OCD to you? Or developing anyways?

The washing hands thing might just be a fear of germs that's developing or strong desire for cleanliness. As for the other stuff it might be OCD, but it sounds a very mild case. Or you could be worrying for nothing, everyone has pet peeves, I know for somethings it feels like i have to do or it has to be a certain way or i can't stop thinking about it but i know i don't have OCD. Typically when someone with OCD does a simple task, it seems to be an absolute must for them to do it repeatedly, in a certain order, and by a certain schedule. It takes them twice as long to do mundane things everyday. This site will show you a list of symptoms and some more explanation about OCD: http://www.mentalhealthchannel.net/ocd/symptoms.shtml

Good luck.

This is not OCD, this is just a habit. OCD is a disease that you get from a genetic disposition and possibly a trigger. You're body is simply used to washing that often, so it feels weird when you don't. You need psychological therapy to help OCD - and even then it won't completely go away. You just need to stop washing that often for a couple days. You can't develop OCD from doing something a lot.

you definitely sound obsessive, though (from what you [don't] say) AS YET not compulsive.
the C part of Obsessive Compulsive Disorder is a fear that is associated with not partaking of your O. The fear is often irrational and sometimes can not even be defined.

I suggest you read the link below, do some research and go to your Dr for help and advice, and if necessary treatment before things become worse.
Good luck

It does sound like OCD. I have some similar habits, but not as severe. I guess the only thing you could do is try to catch yourself doing these things and stop them before it gets worse. To see OCD at its worst, watch "The Aviator"

It does sound like OCD. Therapy and medication can help. Usually OCD is an attempt to control your life that you feel is out of control. Many people have varying levels of this. Employers love it.

Good gravy! Do you mean everybody doesn't go through all those excercises? Is there a club? If not, maybe we should start one.
