I have been through 4 groomers til I found one that could cut my bichon right. One groomer shaved a 5'' ring around her belly and I about fell out. One cut all the fur off her ears. Another cut her short and cut her head like a Schnauzer. It took the fourth groomer to do her like a bichon. Is a Bichon groom and cut that hard?

I'm a professional bather at a grooming shop and all the groomers I work with do a beautiful job on Bichons and let me tell you, we get a lot of Bichon's at our shop.... What you should do is find a picture of the way you want your Bichon to look and show it to the groomer and tell them that is how you want it done, they should be able to do it that way... Now what I don't understand is why a groomer would cut all the fur off of her ears, that's not part of a Bichon cut.. Anyways, where abouts do you live? What state? Depending on where you live maybe I could help you. Let me know... Hope this helps!

I have found a lot of groomers to be to lazy to do the hand cut that a Bichon is suppose to have the others are just fancy cuts that the groomer will do. I also find that where aI live you don't have to be licennses so if you own the equipment you can groom. I however wnet to a grooming school and have a "diploma"

Yes, we have a Bichon and when we get her hair cut, she always gets cut and looks like a Schnauzer like you said.
Looks sort of weird at first, but it grows back and we don't really care about getting the correct "Bichon cut" enough to go all around to different groomers. Not many places seem to know how to do it right.. I agree.

ussually if you want a proper "show cut" you either need to find someone who owns/shows/or handles that breed.. or you have to do it yourself. People who show dogs do their own grooming, and do not use groomers.

Most groomers do every day "pet cuts" and dont really know how to do a proper show cut. Most of their customers just want something easy to maintain, but looks cute. Sometimes too, your best bet is to take in a picture to show your groomer what you want.
