Genesis 2:16 -17 says: And Jehovah God also laid this command upon the man: “From every tree of the garden you may eat to satisfaction. But as for the tree of the knowledge of good and bad you must not eat from it, for in the day you eat from it you will positively die.”
Adam and Eve died. Positively. The God who can not lie warned them of this consequence for disobedience. He did not say that any part of them would remain alive. It was Satan who said "YOU positively will not die" (Genesis 2:4) They were disfellowshipped from God's organization and therefore did not have his spirit. Just as an electric fan continues to spin after the plug is pulled, Adam and Eve continued living without Jehovah's spirit for a time. However, their bodies began decaying and dieing that very day. Satan continues to perpetuate the lie that sin does not lead to death. He would have us believe that some part of us goes on living either in heaven or some horrible place of torment. Satan is a liar. (John 8:44) If we believe that we do not really die, then where is the need for a resurrection? Belief in the resurrection is a fundamental, primary doctrine of Christianity. (Hebrews 6:1-2)

The Bible does not specifically tell us whether Adam and Eve were saved. Adam and Eve were the only two human beings who knew about God before they became tainted with sin. As a result, they likely still knew God better after their Fall than any of us do today. Adam and Eve most definitely believed in and depended God. God continued to talk with Adam and Eve and provide for them after the Fall. Adam and Eve knew of God’s promise that He would provide a Savior (Genesis 3:15). God made a garments of skin for Adam and Eve after the Fall (Genesis 3:21). Many scholars understand this as the first animal sacrifice, foreshadowing the eventual death of Christ on the cross for the sins of the world. As a result of these facts, it would seem that Adam and Eve were "saved" and did indeed go to Heaven / Paradise when they died.

The Scriptures speak of only two possibilities for the dead-the temporary state of nonexistence and the state of eternal death. Those who are judged unworthy of a resurrection are pitched into "Gehenna," or "the lake of fire." (Matthew 5:22; Mark 9:47, 48; Revelation 20:14) Among these would be the first human pair, Adam and Eve, the betrayer Judas Iscariot, and certain ones who died when God executed judgment upon them, such as the people in Noah's day and the inhabitants of Sodom and Gomorrah. At death, those who will be favored with a resurrection go to the common grave of mankind-Sheol, or Hades. Speaking of their future, the Bible states: "The sea gave up those dead in it, and death and Hades gave up those dead in them, and they were judged individually according to their deeds."-Revelation 20:13.

Adam and Eve died a spiritual death (Romans 5). Tell me where in the Bible they were saved? Where they looking forward to a Savior the Lord Jesus Christ through the sacrificial system of the OT? God put them out of the Garden to till the ground by the sweat of their brow as a result of sin.

The bodies of Adam & Eve went back to “dust” or to the elements of the earth either gradually by burial and subsequent decay. Jehovah told Adam: “Dust you are and to dust you will return.” (Genesis 3:19)
So There You Have it.

My guess is they went to heaven. And, this is because they were saved through their faith and obedience to God. They most definately repented for their previous sins. This is biblical.
However, Adam and Eve didn't know Jesus, as they lived long before Jesus was revealed to mankind. So, they were under a different dispensation. (I'm not going to describe dispensation theology. If you want to know, google it.) The bible talks about "the dead in Christ shall rise", and this means those who died believing in Jesus. Today we are under a new dispensation (you might call it the new testament church.), one in which we must have faith in Jesus and be obedient to his commandments to love the Lord our God, and love our neighbors as ourselves. (No matter what dispensation a person is under when they die, you'll notice the rules for salvation are always the same: faith and obedience.)

Because of sin, Adam and Eve sold their souls along with the souls of all mankind to the devil. And everyone who dies from the time of Adam to Jesus, both righteous and unrighteous were held in the place known as death and hell.
The unrighteous in the lower part of hell where they are reserved until the day of judgment.
The righteous were held in the upper part of hell, also known as the bosom of Abraham.
When Jesus lived a life without sin and was put to death, he defeated death and set free the captives being held in hell in the place known as the bosom of Abraham.
These were the the righteous dead who's hearts were made right by faith in the coming promise, Jesus Christ, the salvation of all mankind. Yet, they were held in death because there is two parts that must happen for a man to be saved.
He must believe with all of his heart and he must confess unto salvation. Romans 10:9,10
The righteous dead were deemed worthy, righteous in the eyes of God by their faith, but they still had need of confession unto salvation. This could not happen until after Jesus defeated death. That is why he went into the lower parts to preach to them. 1 Peter 4:6
So now, all the righteous dead souls are now with Jesus and will return with him on the day of resurrection where they will be placed back into their bodies that sleep in the grave, but have been resurrected, changed from mortal to immortal. 1 Thess. 4:14
That is why it is so important a man be born again, his soul is alive in Christ before he suffers physical death. For if a man is still dead in his soul at the time of physical death, his soul will be taken to the place known as death and hell where it will be reserved until judgment.

" And God proceeded to form the man out of dust from the ground and to blow into his nostrils the breath of life, and the man came to be a living soul." (Gen 2:7)
“From every tree of the garden you may eat to satisfaction. But as for the tree of the knowledge of good and bad you must not eat from it, for in the day you eat from it you will positively die.” (Genesis 2:16, 17
“In the sweat of your face you will eat bread until you return to the ground, for out of it you were taken. For dust you are and to dust you will return.(Genesis 3:19)
Simple as that. Return to dust.
