As long as it is weekends only and you maintain control of your actions and are not driving, then have fun while you are young. Just don't let it interfere with your responsibilities or common sense.

Know this: alcohol is an addictive drug. That means you need more and more over time to get that same high feeling. If you are drinking 5-10 beers in a weekend, are you drinking also during the week. I tell you, this is what happens to people who drink alot over a long period of time. It doesn't happen right away, and you won't notice the effects until it is too late! Your liver will suffer, your kidneys will suffer, and it is possible that you'll end up with alcohol cardiomyosis, which is an enlargement of the heart, to which you never fully recover. I'm telling you this because it happened to my brother-in-law. And I'm not talking about the "town drunk" kind of person. You don't have to look drunk, feel or act drunk, its just the poison of the alcohol. Just someone who drank alot throughout his day for many years. He's 36 years old -with a wife and 2 kids, and has the heart of a 75 year old man now. So now that I said that, let me tell you this because I am not a totally against drinking. If you can hold your alcohol to no more than 2 drinks a day, well, that's not so bad. That's not an average OK? But if you need to go over that, in any fashion, and you don't think you can hold yourself to that (remember alcohol is addicting, some people can handle limiting it, some can't - know yourself) then you might want to think about not drinking at all and getting rid of the temptation. Please think hard about your decisions. They will affect you in the future. Good Luck

It may not be bad now but you could be headed to a road of depression and self destruction especially if you get behind the wheel of a car and drive after 5-10 beers. You did not say how old you are social drinking is not a bad thing, however, drinking and driving is and it can have serious consequences. Going out and having fun does not always have to include drinking.

If a daily consumption of 5 to 10 pints of beer a day, i would say you are a drunkard and you are hooked... Try drinking at home sometimes.. You can invite friends over to your house, at least that will solve the problem of you going out too often... CHEERS!

yeah after college i got a 'real job' and i go out everyweekend with all my friends.. we joke around about how we've really yet to take a weekend off, but i just have so much fun with them all when we go out.. i like it because it makes me think i'm in college all over again for the night.. without a big paper due monday a.m.
i think it's ok for now, i'm sure as i get older and settle with a woman and all that stuff i won't do it as much.. but fro now i'm enjoying being young..

Well, too much is a relative term. It depends on what are you going out or drinking at the cost of. If you are not missing anything important, and not making a fool of yourself by drinking too much, or denting your pocket, where is the problem?

sounds like a binge drinker to me. it's too expensive for your wallet, and you are more likely to suffer from alcohol poisoning one of those times. cut back, before something happens. NEVER drink and drive.

I mean, it sounds okay. But--how do you feel? If you feel guilty the next day, don't remember, are acting outrageous...then I would be very careful you don't get yourself into a very bad habit.

If you have to have alcohol to have a good time, then shouldn't you think about what you need to change in yourself so you are able to have a good time and not subject yourself to being not in control of your actions?
