the question should be do you encounter anyone in customer service who does speak English well.

Some not at all. I don't mind accents but I need someone who understands me as well as me being able to understand them. Isn't that the whole point to communication? It was much easier when you could see people face to face when you couldn't understand them well because body language and simple hand signals could help fill in the blanks. I mean you could see by expressions on their face if they were having a bad day or sick or ignoring you or really not understanding something and you could kind of know where to go from there. Customer service is the worst I have ever seen. Ever. For everything. I don't care if it's a person who doesn't speak or understand English well or a darn robot........Many businesses have lost my business for that very reason.

If you are referring to the the companies that chose to fire thousands of US call center workers and transfer their jobs overseas to places like India and the Philippines, you hit on a national tragedy.
Companies like Dell and certain cell phone companies are just a few. No one likes to call for help and get someone in another country thousands of miles away. The people on the other end of the phone don't even own some of the products they are trying to service.
Add in cultural difference and marginal language skills and you have a situation that would be comical if it were not for the money you have invested in the products you are calling about.
We need to boycott companies that have sent their customer service overseas.

supply them a cut-off date for a reaction from a guy or woman interior the U. S., and sue them for a reimbursement in the event that they do no longer produce and fulfill the guaranty. "shopper help" is an insult, no longer a branch. companies do no longer supply a fcuk approximately clientele anymore because of the fact they have your money. in case you rather need stable service, purchase your next pc from a interior reach save. shop each and every of the receipts, packing containers and documentation, and then cause them to deal inclusive of your service issues or call for a reimbursement. no longer something gets a ideal reaction swifter than the skill to get of their face. they might ignore approximately your telephone calls, digital mail and letters, yet they might't ignore approximately you once you stroll into their corporation and tell them their product is siht. I actual have the stable fortune of living close to the biggest city interior the country the place I stay and circulate to the top places of work in guy or woman while they do no longer carry out. Seething anger with well mannered language rather makes them circulate their asses. further: Cherriest, your digital mail handle isn't shown. i've got have been given information on Gutlessway to deliver to you in the event that they ever fcuk around.

You bet!!
I phoned some Albert in Ireland to inquire about the Pay-pal system and I couldn't understand anything the bloke was talking about - not a single verb!
Oh,and by the way, seeking out info for British Rail timetables and ticket pricing from some geezer quacking on in Bombay ain't so clever, either! Eh, owt to save a bob or two! It's probably bin Laden making a few squid on the side!!

YES!
Prime example, give Yahoo a call and after waiting about 20 minutes you'll get someone that speaks very poor English. This really suck if it's a long distance call.

Yes. I certainly don't mind accents, but I have actually gotten people that I can't understand at all. These are usually call centers in other countries, usually India. However, I've found that if you ask for a supervisor, you are usually routed back to the U.S. or Canada (if that's where they are HQ'd), and then you can easily communicate.

Often...however, telling them I want to speak with someone who can actually communicate usually works to get me someone else...I don't feel obligated, when I am paying for a product or service, to talk in a foreign language or attempt to understand an unintelligible accent.
