It should be covered but you can get specialist insurance to cover against fire and theft only for a 'laid-up' car.

Search for 'laid up insurance' and you will see what I mean - it is much cheaper than using ordinary insurance!

Yes it can be insured. My sports car is declared SORN every October to April and laid up in a garage it's still insured by a specialist insurance company. While I drive round all winter in a battered old Ford Fiesta.

You can, in fact, often get "laid up" insurance, which is cheaper that your normal cover. Nonetheless, ordinary insurance still covers you, though I'd doubt if weather would be accepted. Certainly you'd be covered against fire & theft with your tpf&t, plus vandalism if you had fully comp. ( By the way, an acquaintance of mine found out the fire cover didn't apply if he set fire to it when welding - the hard way!)

weather is classed as normal wear and tear and not covered, as long as the car is SORN and insurance is covered if the car is stolen or broken into then you are covered. If you drive the car on the road other then to a test station or to get work done on it for the mot and the car is not taxed the insurance is void you can only legal drive it for a mot or place to have mot work done for the insurance to be valid.

Yes the car will be insured providing you have kept the insurance company up to date with the circumstances.

As others say, yes but I believe it does not need to be insured if it is on SORN and off the road.

If it has been declared SORN, and is parked on private land then the insurance should apply.

Only if your policy states thats the case. Never assume, always contact the company to make sure.
