When I was a mechanic, I was always getting small cuts on my hands. There is a real problem with knuckles and finger tips because they keep getting broken open. I had really good results with a product called Nu Skin. It is sort of like clear fingernail polish. It allows movement, but still protects the injury better than a band aid. If cut is deep, you should see a doctor.

see a doctor. a culture will have to be done to see what "bug" you may have growing. one that comes to mind is MRSA (methacillin resistant staph aureous). this is a bacteria that lives on the skin and in most instances never causes a problem, that is until it gets into a wound. then it delays or prolongs healing. once the doctor knows what the bacteria is, then an antibiotic regimen can be started. other thoughts would be, are you a diabetic?

5 months for a wound to heal is definitely abnormal. Unfortunately, I don't know of anything over the counter that will help. Your next step is to see a doctor.

go to the doctor, get stitches. Until then, use butterfly bandaids or steri strips to hold it closed.
