I really want to get a PS3 but I currently do not own a HDTV. I'm more concerned that I won't be getting my money's worh than the high cost of the system.

You do not have to own a HDTV to play a PlayStation 3 the HD cable just gives you the choise to play it on a HDTV or a normal CRT TV

Of course you will get your money's worth. I have a Xbox360 without HD, and I get my money's worth to me. Just consider the cost the way I do. Do you want a new system? Are there games out or coming out that you want? See I think graphics are toward the bottom. Although I'm a gamer, but more casual then some. It is a hobby to me, not a lifestyle. I don't sit and play 8 hours or more a day, usually play about 2 hours. Not that any of that matters, my point though is to some I wouldn't get my money's worth because I don't spend enough time. To me there are games out that I wanted and some coming out that I want. So I get my enjoyment from them and that is getting the money's worth. Somewhat glad I didn't wait for the PS3, based on the current games and the few that I would be missing, but still wouldn't pass on one if I could afford it.

I've had my PS3 since the UK launch and am loving it on a standard TV.
The other fact is HDTV prices are falling a lot faster than the PS3 will.
So, now, I can nearly afford a full 1080p one to go with it (i say nearly, but with all the games coming out soon, and Xmas coming up, i may wait a little longer.)

I own PS3 and I run games on regular 25" 100 HZ CRT TV. It's really good. The difference between PS3 graphics and PS2 are the same as between PS1 and PS2.

I don't use an HDTV but I can still see a difference between PS2 and PS3 graphics.

You should get a PS3, because it is the best system for you.

Don;t worry about the HDTV

The picture won't be it's true quality, so if you have a ps2 I would say wait to buy ps3 until you upgrade yout tv. If you wait the price will go down too so it will be win win for you.

The only real value of the PS3 is that it will do 1080P "true HD", play blueray HD DVDs, and play new PS3 games. I wouldn't buy one till the prices drop and a lot more games come out. Right now your paying a premium and not gaining anything.
