Okay, I think I've gone overboard with my recently discovered love of cooking and searching for new exciting recipes to try. I now have 8 three ring notebook binders FULL of recipes. I am a very methodical organized person. So I have then sorted into catagories. (chicken, beef, pasta, vegetable, & etc.) I have composed complete menus in weekly sections for 3 months in advance without using the same recipe twice. This encludes desserts and baked breads. I have shopping lists made out for each menu week. My question? What can I do with all this work?

This is either the sign of Obsessive Compulsive Disorder and you need to be examined by a competent psychiatrist OR you are a godsend to those of us who suffer with terminal clutter and are totally disorganized.

I pick 'godsend' status.... or maybe even 'god/goddess.'

I suffer from ADD and have difficulty sorting things, making decisions about organization, finishing projects that I start, and even sometimes forgetting what I was going to say in the middle of a........ darn, I forget.

Worse yet, my organized wife is ill, and has been now for years and all housekeeping, organization, errands, etc. are left up to me. I have lost my better half who kept my creative efforts under control, and helped me understand the value of putting keys in the same spot every time. Now chaos reigns.

When you go through the recipes star the ones you like by 5 stars and 4 down to 1 get rid of the ones and put the better ones into one cookbook and then you will have all of your favorites in one place. I love cooking too and years ago I began tweaking the recipes, just bit here and there to meet our families likes and dislikes, adding more vegetables, or replacing a high fat ingredient with something not so high in fat and I can do most of them from my head but I still have about 100 cookbooks and over 200 recipes that I have collected from people and three books of recipes that I have typed up and put in three ring binders and sorted just like you. I am now working on a friends and family cookbook for our family for Christmas full of all kinds of recipes dating back to the depression, full of old photos and new with pictures of family and friends and their friends and their family it has been great fun! I am glad I am not the only hooked on the joy of cooking from scratch! Good luck to you!

Sounds normal to me - I have notebooks, a cooking library that is the envy of my neighbors - and cook at least 2 meals a day for my family. My kids can even call me at work and make special dinner requests. Consider why you cook - if it is for you and those you love just keep going and enjoy the pleasure of your skills and organization. Do you feel that you can do better serving a wider audience? then consider a move to Culinary school and becoming a chef, chef educator or a food service manager. There are so many opportunities in the ever changing food market I am sure you will find your fit if you choose this path. Good Luck!

... I imagine you can set out to do x number of recipes per week- depending on the time your lifestyle allows. You can record any adjustments you've made, and if the recipe was a good one. I suppose from there, you could include them in a food blog (ppl love to see pics so include them as well!), or a video podcast. If you really, really want to cook for a living why not start a small catering business or write a cookbook? ;)

you can offer your services for a small fee to other busy, working moms, start a cookbook, start a club (like who knew the whole scrapbooking classes would sweep the nation like they did), you have a talent and i am sure there are gaps out there that you can fill. start your own website that offers all that you had mentioned above. the possibilities are endless.

Cook!

Glad you are enjoying it.

In fact, maybe you'll just read your recipes and discard them and start making stuff up from scratch. Then you'll REALLY enjoy it.

Making your own food = best thing ever.
