That is not necessarilly true. I have a siamese and he is VERY affectionate. He loves to play and cuddle. He is the best cat. Every cat is different, you can't predict his/her personality soley based on his breed. I am sure that if you take good care of you kitten and show it lots of love, it will love you back!

Nearly any animal that is raised from babyhood takes on the personality of the family that raises it. I have always had cats and dogs -- usually 2 dogs and 2 or 3 cats at a time. None of them got mean. In fact, most of them are big lushes, wanting an ear scratch and a tummy rub whenever they get near me.
Why? Because my critters are part of the family. I interact with them everyday, love on them, discipline them when needed (hey, I'm the Alpha in this pack!) and enjoy their company. They know we are all part of the same pack/pride. My granddaughter was sure my German Shepherd, who was the same age as her, was a brother in fur.
Many of my cats have been Siamese or Siamese crosses. They have their own personalities but they have not been mean.
One adopted my son when he was six years old. She ruled him with an iron paw, demanding he go to bed when SHE was ready so she could sleep on his chest. She would march into the living room around 9:30 or 10 and meow imperatively until he would give up, grab the book he was reading and march to bed. She was 19 when she died and he was in his late-20s. It was hilarious to see a small blue-eyed cat bossing her 6' 220 lb human.
With that said, my Mom got a grown Siamese cat once that never did settle into their house. The cat was aloof and got mean spirited as she got older. I know this cat wasn't handled much as a kitten and "socialized" to humans. I suspect that someone tormented her, too, but I can't prove it.
You get what you put into a project. If you want your kitten to be warm and loving, be gentle with her, work with her and love her. She will respond in kind.

I got two siamese and everyone warned me that they were going to be mean. This in NOT true. It depends how you raise them. My cats are the most friendly loving cats. One thing I have noticed is they are very talkative cats and they love to be treated like babys, this might not be true for every cat.

A cat gets mean if it fears for it's life or is threatened continually.
I've had a siamese, he was a great people cat, was treated with gentleness his whole life and he responded in kind.

No. I have a couple and they are wonderful. They have gotten less tolerant of the other cats, but they love their people!!!!! They are not as friendly with stranges, but that is not a problem.
They have some odd behavior quirks, but we like that!!! They are talkative, aloof, and cuddly!!
