I wish i had more time to answer you in details, but here's the best I can do for now...

Dreams are divided to good and bad. Good devided to "ad'3aathu a7lam" (adghathu ahlaam) or Ru2ya (Ru'ya). Ru'ya come from Allah to help you steadfast in your faith or to warn you from something. The prophet Muhammad said: "Asdaqukom hadeethan, asdaqukom ru'2ya". Meaning, the honest ones have honest dreams.

Bad dreams (also called Kaaboos, plural= kawaabees) are from Shaytan to pull you back or scare you. Sometime to make you worried or acred from certain tings and, in turn, away from al sirat al mustaqeem (the straight path). If you see a bad dream, "dry-spit" (called nafth in Arabic) on your left shoulder and say "a3oothu bi'llahi min sharri 7ilmi" and dont tell anyone about it. In short, it is said not to because the prophet said not to tell bad dreams, but why did he say that? because hiding it keeps it away, hoping Allah will protect you, and jinn will not get ideas, and people who hate you don't wish it for you. Allah above all and protects who seeks shelter with Him. 7asbun'llah wa ne3ma'l wakeel. Na3oothu bihi mna'l shaytan'l rajeem wa mn hamzeh w naf'7ih wa nafthih.

Sorry for being brief, hope it helped. Take care and salam...

I believe your question should be:

How to know the difference between a TRUE dream from God, and a dream that is a LIE that comes from "satan"?

Just because a person had a bad dream does not mean that it did not come from God. God could be letting someone know of the dangers that are in ones life.

A person can have what they thought to be a good dream, but instead it was a dream that had no truth and therefore is a LIE because the person believed in the good of the dream.

Dreams both good and bad are not from God there from what you think about. You may notice that what you dream about is what you where thinking about during the day. Dreams have allot to do with your brain and play a big part in every day life, so good or bad dreams are just dreams and have nothing to do with God or the devil.

Let's classify good dreams into two categories: From God, and from subconscious. Dreams from subconscious are usually the result of your innermost desires sometimes intrawoven with reality. An example is a dream with all the things you want but the actors are jumbled. Dreams from God are dreams of prophecy. It will only be known when such dream has "arrived".

Dreams from the evil one are the ones that makes you restless, scared or frightened. There are also dreams from the evil one that include sex, murder, or sins that people commit.

Note: These are not my ideas. They aree in a book called "BOOST YOUR BRAIN POWER A TOTAL PROGRAM TO SHARPEN YOU THINKING AND AGE-PROOF YOUR MIND SUPERCHARGE YOUR MEMORY, HEAL WITH YOUR MIND, THINK CLEARER, LEARN FASTER" by Ellen Michaud, Russell Wild and the editors of PREVEnTION Magazine (this book is really good) (I don't know if this is proper citing, but I got this from a book, so you can sue) Dreams are a connection to the brain. You can play sports in dreams to get better. You are in REM when you have dreams (rapid eye movement). Anyway, dreams tell you what you think. You can even talk to people in your dreams. You can even talk to people in dreams! For instance, you see a friend in a dream. You can ask tehm like why are you afraid of heights or something, and they will anwser! But, if you are being chased or attack in a dream, that represents fear. If you are falling, it may mean that your feeling insecure, that you have no support, or maybe you feel like you let soemone down (i'm getting ideas from a book). If you are in a car out of control, this probably means to some form of loss of control in your waking life. If you are taking an exam, you may feel like your being tested in real life. And to understand dreams, it is a good idea to talk to friends and family members about the dreams because they may know what it means or symbolizes.

God isn't operating in the arena of "dreams" today.

He has given us His Word and can communicate quite well as to what He expects of us.

Dreams are a result of what you were thinking about, watching or doing before you went to sleep, and can even be a result of eating pizza before bedtime.

NO spiritual value to a dream today.

Umm...Dreams are merely the sub-conscious mind trying to make sense of the random firing of the neurons as we sleep. It's our brains instinct to find order in chaos, like seeing a bunny in a cloud, or making sense of the ramblings of a democratic presidential candidate. God nor Satan influence our dreams.

your dreams are basically a reflection from your day. they review everything that you thought, did, didn't do, while you are sleeping. you only remember a dream when you wake up in them. it is just your mind 'thinking' about what what happened throughout the day sometimes, if you watched a scary movie, it will be something bad, if you do sumtin fun, then it will be a good dream.

Dreams are simply a modification of mind, just like imagination, day-dream, fantasy, and even thought in general.
