They stated on my credit report that it ws inclued in a bankruptcy (which it wasn't) I haven't had one, yet the card is in good standing. I tried calling and they are telling me ther is nothing they can do as they only can report what they were told from federated department stores. Help. The account was Lord and Taylor

The item did not go to a collection agency. The card had a zero balance and was transferred to GE last week when Macy's got rid of Lord and Taylor. I called GE and they told em this is what they had listed on the account. I told them its not correct and they said I should have not of filed bankruptcy last week. I said I did not. I didn't file bankruptcy. there is no listing of that on my credit report I pulled today. I did have a bankruptcy back in June 1997 that has come off and this card was not part of that. I am calling the credit bureaus on Monday but am freaking out

Have you pulled a copy of your credit report and did you dispute the entry with the credit bureau? If this item is more than 7 years old, you can add that to your dispute. Items can't be re-aged on your report.

It really makes no sense that the collection agent would put this on your credit report. It isn't like the could actually collect anything on a debt discharged in bankruptcy. This would be considered a vindictive item and certainly opens the collection up to a lawsuit.
