does anyone really understand this, or do women need to take this as an offense instead of being in order and respect in the church?
I see more people attempt at twisting Scripture or avoiding them because of offense. What is wrong with wives or daughters asking their spiritual authority questions after the service? Do women really need to make their presence known with e preacher is preaching? If you have a question on the sermon, do you stand up and ask the pastor during the service?
Can a woman prophesy? If the Spirit gives her umption, let her speak. It is for the edifying of the church. But if a woman has a question, she is to wait after the service and ask her covering.
Let's have some common sense here.

Sandy, i've got faith that each and every faith in this Land of Freedom must be waiting to control itself whilst it is composed of rules of this way. This being a unfastened usa, 'suggestion' of many sorts will probable be provided to a church that forbids women persons to communicate from the rostrum with adult males present day - they are going to maximum possibly get a heckuva' lot of suggestion, whether or not they want it or not! If the ladies persons in that faith settle for that conventional then what business enterprise is it of yours or mine to point out arms at them for doing it?

Women are allowed to speak out loud.
I think Paul applied that to his ministry at the time, because the women at that time was not really involved in social activities, and had little access to education, information, etc.
Therefore, the tendency would be, when they talked, the women would mostly gossip, and not be very helpful to the discussions of the church.
Now that women are more learned and active socially, I think that part isn't really concerning anymore. Especially since the "as saith the law" refers to the Jewish law at the time, and Paul also said something about how Christians should not be Phariseeic about the law, re: Gentile Christians.

Yes and no... my church does not allow women to speak from the pulpit or teach or be placed in a position of authority over a man or men... however, they were allowed to ask questions or participate in special programs, etc. I personally disagreed with this position, as I believe that the Bible is quite clear that women should not speak in a church meeting. However, I believe that the modern day "church" is far removed from what is shown as the example in the Bible of a Biblical church meeting.

Paul said if you have wisdom, you will now what he was talking about. It is said both Sexes, as well as all the Races have their turn in Power on this world. And when women last had the Power, there were noble women who treated men as equals. Most couldn't have cared less about men until they wanted something, just like today. And the worst was the Amazon Society. They killed the male children and only kept enough for breeders and slaves.
Paul was talking about then. But we live in the Here and Now. Many of the struggles we are going through are Karmic. But we also makes choices Today. What will you choose? To preach the same ignorance you condemn? Or the Ways of Peace?

Yes the church I attend does apply them in the sense the verses were more referring to idol gossip then they were that women are to be seen not heard. And it is a shame for women to gossip. I totally agree.
Now as far as women are to be mute and never speak, no... Actually women are encouraged to speak in my church.

Of course. We speak, we prophecy, we teach, we sing,we dance, we preach...we do everything.
Some things in scripture have to be studied, to be understood. Just like any other discipline.
That scripture has to do with the culture at the time, where the women were uneducated (compared to men) and would shout to their husbands (on the other side of the temple) in order to understand what was being preached. This does not apply to this day and age.

Yes, but like all other writings in the bible later written are different instructions. So maybe read further and see what is written or ask a pastor. Also the directions were rules written by Paul. Whom also praised a female minister, some writings require more understanding than just what you read.

Yes women re allowed to speak out loud at my church! As for the scriptures you have quoted, I think that was the way people lived in the day the Bible was written. As for 2007..........My husband is dead and I sure am not going to remarry ever so I don't have a smart husband to ask. So I will just lean to my own understanding.
